Manchester City proved they are the team-to-beat this season after pulling off a dominant performance against perennial powerhouse Manchester United.

Balotelli, who has been one of the vital cogs for Manchester City, recorded his first goal of the match after launching a bullet shot from 18 yards out.

The Red Lions also had several chances to level the game before halftime but the Manchester City’s defense stayed solid and foiled these attempts.

Balotelli roared again into the scene after the break as he scored his second goal in the 80th minute mark to ignite a big second half run for Manchester City.

Sergio Agüero, David Silva, and David Silva (twice) also found the back of the net in the second half to complete the statement win against the Red Lions.

Darren Fletcher nailed the lone goal for Manchester United in the 81st minute, but it was not enough to ease the humiliation at the hands of their intra-city rival.

With the win, Manchester City (8-1-0, 25 pts.) solidified their place on the top spot of the English Premier League standings, while Manchester United (6-2-1, 20 pts.) dropped five points behind the leader.

On other English Premier League matches, Arsenal pummeled Stoke City 3-1, Everton clobbered Fulham 3-1, Tottenham Hotspur edged Blackburn Rovers 2-1, and Queens Park Rangers upset Chelsea 1-0.
