Dwight Tiendalli scored the go-ahead goal in the 76th minute as Swansea inflicted another serious blow to Wigan Athletic's quest to escape Premier League relegation with a 3-2 win at DW Stadium.

With the loss, Wigan Athletic remained in the bottom three of the standings with 35 points together with Reading and Queens Park Rangers.

A win could have brought Wigan out of relegation and a tie with Newcastle, which has 38 points with two games left.

Wigan grabbed the lead when Roger Espinoza struck in injury-time in the first half. Swansea goalkeeper Michel Vorm thwarted a deep cross but it went to Espinoza, who easily volleyed the ball into the near corner.

Swansea came out of the break energized and tied the game in the 50th minute with a goal from Angel Rangel but Wigan regained the lead three minutes later after James McCarthy fired a low shot past Vorm.

Six minutes later, Wigan committed an error that allowed Itay Shechter to score his first goal for Swansea via a deflection in the 59th minute.

Wigan had another defensive error in the 76th minute that led to Tiendalli's go-ahead goal that turned out to be a game-winner for Swansea.

Meanwhile, Manchester City strengthened its hold on second place in the standings with a close 1-0 win over West Bromwich Albion.

Edin Dzeko scored in the 35th minute for Manchester City, which leads third-running Chelsea by seven points with two games left.

After a close 35 minutes of play, Manchester City finally put one on the board when Dzeko buried Carlos Tevez's cross for a 1-0 lead.

After the break, West Brom had several chances to level the match but Markus Rosenberg's free-kick hit the bar while Billy Jones' header was saved by Joe Hart.
