Houston, TX

Center back Aurelien Collin scored the lone goal in the 73rd minute as Sporting Kansas City snapped Houston Dynamo's 36-game home unbeaten streak with a 1-0 victory at BBVA Compass Stadium.

Seth Sinovic found Collin on a long throw-in into the penalty area and the center back flicked the ball past Dynamo goalkeeper Tally Hall as Sporting Kansas City became the first team to win in Houston since June 18, 2011.

Sporting City tied Houston and the Montreal Impact in second place in the Eastern Conference with identical 20 points, a point behind the New York Red Bulls.

After Collin's goal, the Dynamo increased the pressure by switching to a 3-4-3 attack. In the 80th minute, rookie Jason Johnson almost saved the Dynamo's streak but his header was blocked by Paulo Nagamura.

A minute later, Ricardo Clark lined up a shot that tested Sporting goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen but the Dane was up to the task with a diving stop.

Houston midfielder Andrew Driver had a chance to tie the game in the 84th-minute but his shot hit the far post.

Sporting had more scoring chances, outshooting Houston, 7-3, in the first half but the Dynamo picked up the energy 15 minutes before the break.

Brad Davis challenged Nielsen with a 25th-minute free kick from 30 yards out but the Dane made a sliding save to his left.

Collin incurred his fifth yellow card of the season with his lunge on Clark, resulting in a one-game suspension. He and midfielder Orion Rosell will both sit Sporting Kansas City's game against D.C. United next week.

Houston will host the New England Revolution in a rematch of the 2006 and 2007 MLS Cups.
