The Denver Nuggets have been the beast of the Western Conference for quite a while, extending their winning streak to 13 at the expense of the Oklahoma City Thunder 114-104 at Chesapeake Energy Arena.

But is this winning run enough to tell if the Nuggets are a real contender come postseason time?

Playing without a true superstar on their roster, the Nuggets are still crushing teams - even elite squads - one by one behind their explosive offense and perhaps the stingiest defense the franchise had since George Karl took over.

The Nuggets are clearly the deepest team in the NBA, using 8 to 9 players each capable of dropping 20 point on any given night.

Starting point guard Ty Lawson has been the leading catalysts for the Nuggets throughout their hot streak as he averaged 16.9 points, 6.9 assists and 2.7 boards this season.

On Tuesday, Lawson went back and forth with All-Star point guard Russell Westbrook and finished with 25 points, 4 assists, and 4 boards to key the Nuggets to victory in a crucial Northwest Division showdown.

Moreover, the presence of Andre Iguodala, Danillo Gallanari, Kenneth Faried, Kosta Koufos, and backups Wilson Chandler, JaVale McGee, Corey Brewer, and Andre Miller made the Nuggets a difficult opponent in the postseason.

Without any doubt, the Nuggets have the potential to achieve the feat done by the Detroit Pistons in 2004 - winning the title without a bonafide star.
