The top 10 airlines by percentage of available seat miles on long haul flights with Wi-Fi on board

Streaming videos, instant messaging, or reading the latest news are things airline passengers had to do without until recently.

Now, however, the internet has finally arrived in airplanes. On most long-haul flights, passengers can already access the internet via fast Wi-Fi networks.

Lufthansa is a true role model with regard to offering in-flight internet access, as the data from routehappy.com shows. The German airline's customers have internet access on 100 percent of all long-haul flights. The company with the crane on its airplanes is therefore ranked number one followed by Aeroflot (Russia) and Garuda (Indonesia). Delta ranks last among the top 10 with coverage of about 78% at the time of the data collection.

The chart above illustrates the percentage of available seat miles on long haul flights with Wi-Fi on board.
