Is it possible to take great photos of your dog -- without the help of a professional photographer? After all, dogs move quickly and often turn their heads at the wrong moment. With time and patience, however, you can be snapping up great photo memories of your dog in no time.

Begin by dressing for the photo session.

You'll need casual clothing that withstands drool, muddy paws, shedding and anything else an excited dog can stir up. The second important consideration is incentive. Whether it's a treat or a favorite squeaky toy in hand, you'll definitely get great results and your dog's full attention.

If all else fails, invite your friends to assist. Have a friend stand behind you to get your dog in frame. And don't forget your surroundings! The background is as important as your tail-wagging subject. Be sure to scout a few spots indoors or in your yard -- if it's closed off -- that are photo-worthy.

Above all else, have fun.

Our pets know when we are relaxed and happy. By having a great attitude and a little bit of patience, you're sure to succeed.
