Quarterback JAKE DELHOMME of the Carolina Panthers and linebacker DERRICK BROOKS and kicker MATT BRYANT of the

QB BRETT FAVRE, NEW YORK JETS - AFC Offensive Player of the Week
In his 257th consecutive start as an NFL quarterback, Favre posted a career-high six touchdown passes as the
Jets defeated the Arizona Cardinals 56-35.
Favre completed 24 of 34 passes (70.6 percent) for 289 yards with six touchdowns versus one interception and
a 123.7 passer rating. Favre’s six touchdown passes tie Pro Football Hall of Famer JOE NAMATH (6 at Baltimore
Colts on 9/24/72) for most touchdowns by a Jets quarterback.
Brett Favre's previous career high was five touchdowns, which he has accomplished three times. This also
marked the 20th time in his career that Favre recorded four or more touchdowns.
The Jets’ 56 points were the second-most points scored in a game in franchise history, trailing only the 62
scored against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (11/17/85).
In his 18th season from Southern Mississippi, this is Favre’s first AFC Offensive Player of the Week Award.
Favre most recently won NFC Offensive Player of the Week with the Green Bay Packers in 2007 (Week 4).
LB DERRICK JOHNSON, KANSAS CITY CHIEFS - AFC Defensive Player of the Week
Facing the previously undefeated Denver Broncos at Arrowhead Stadium, Johnson played a huge role as the Chiefs
picked up their first win of the season in a key AFC West match-up.
The Texas native posted seven tackles, a half sack, one interception and one forced fumble in a 33-19
victory. Johnson forced two of the Chiefs’ four turnovers in the contest. In the second quarter, he
stripped the ball away from wide receiver BRANDON MARSHALL, and Chiefs’ rookie cornerback BRANDON FLOWERS
returned it to Denver’s two-yard line. In the third quarter, Johnson recorded his second turnover of the
game on a JAY CUTLER pass intended for Marshall for his first interception of the season and the third of
his career.
In his fourth year from Texas, this is Johnson’s first career Defensive Player of the Week Award. He is the
first Chiefs player to win Defensive Player of the Week since safety BERNARD POLLARD in 2006 (Week 17).
K JEFF REED, PITTSBURGH STEELERS - AFC Special Teams Player of the Week
In primetime on Monday Night Football against an undefeated AFC North foe, Reed connected on a 46-yard field goal in overtime to give the Steelers a 23-20 win against the Baltimore Ravens. Reed recorded the seventh game-winning field goal of his career and helped secure a 3-1 start for Pittsburgh in back-to-back seasons. In the Steelers’ first overtime win at home since 2002 (Cleveland on 9/29/02), Reed made all three field goal attempts (49, 19, 46 yards) and totaled 11 points. He has made all seven field goal attempts this season, including a career-long 53-yard field goal.
In his seventh season from North Carolina, this is Reed’s third career Special Teams Player of the Week Award. He previously won the award in 2004 (Week 17).
QB JAKE DELHOMME, CAROLINA PANTHERS - NFC Offensive Player of the Week
The 10-year veteran completed 20 of 29 passes (69.0 percent) for 294 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions for a 124.8 passer rating in the Panthers’ 24-9 win over the Atlanta Falcons. The game featured two 2-1 teams tied for first place in the NFC South. Delhomme tossed touchdown passes of 56 yards to wide receiver STEVE SMITH and 36 yards to wide receiver MUHSIN MUHAMMAD. Delhomme’s 124.8 passer rating was the highest among NFL quarterbacks in Week 4. In his career, Delhomme ranks as Carolina’s all-time leader with 2,054 pass attempts, 1,228 completions, 14,815 passing yards and 100 touchdown passes. His nine career 300-yard passing games are the most in franchise history.
In his 10th season from Louisiana-Lafayette, this is Delhomme’s first career Player of the Week Award. He is the first Panthers quarterback to win the award since STEVE BEUERLEIN in 1999 (Week 14). This marks the 10th time a Panther has won the Offensive Player of the Week Award and the first since running back DE SHAUN FOSTER in 2005 (Week 13).
LB DERRICK BROOKS, TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS - AFC Defensive Player of the Week
The veteran linebacker had five tackles, three passes defensed, an interception and a forced fumble that resulted in a touchdown in the Buccaneers’ 30-21 win over the Green Bay Packers. Brooks’ interception, the 25th of his career, came on the first play of the second quarter and helped set up a Tampa Bay touchdown. In the third quarter, Brooks forced a fumble in the backfield that was recovered by safety JERMAINE PHILLIPS and returned 38 yards for a touchdown. That score gave the Buccaneers a 20-7 lead.
In his 14th year from Florida State, this is Brooks’ sixth career Player of the Week Award and first since 2004 (Week 13). Brooks is now tied with cornerback RONDE BARBER (five defense, one special teams) for the most total awards in franchise history and Brooks’ six defensive honors are the most by a Buccaneer.
K MATT BRYANT, TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS - AFC Special Teams Player of the Week
Playing with a heavy heart after the loss of his youngest son Tryson earlier in the week, Bryant converted all three field-goal attempts, including the game-winner in the fourth quarter as the Buccaneers defeated the Packers. Bryant connected on field goals of 23, 36 and 24 yards, and his 24-yarder with 2:26 remaining in the game put Tampa Bay ahead 23-21. For the season, Bryant has scored 35 points and has been perfect so far on all eight field-goal attempts and 11 PATs.
In his seventh season from Baylor, this is Bryant’s fourth career Player of the Week Award and second with the Buccaneers (Week 7, 2006). Bryant also was honored twice as a member of the New York Giants (Weeks 3 and 11, 2002).
