NFL 2008 RSS
Then it's Turkey Day NFL 2008 football, with playoff scenarios involved:
TENNESSEE TITANS at DETROIT LIONS (CBS, 12:30 PM ET): Fans will see two of the top rookie rushers in the league in Tennessee's CHRIS JOHNSON (second among rookie RBs with 833 yards) and Detroit's KEVIN SMITH (fourth with 599 yards). Smith has consecutive games of 96, 112 and 86 yards. The 10-1 Titans are smarting from their first loss to the Jets last week. "It was a great run," says Tennessee head coach JEFF FISHER. "We've got to win our next game." With a win and an Indianapolis loss, the Titans take the AFC South.
SEATTLE SEAHAWKS at DALLAS COWBOYS (FOX, 4:15 PM ET): The final Thanksgiving game in Texas Stadium, where some of the most memorable NFL games on the holiday have been played (Cowboys Thanksgiving record in the stadium: 21-14). 'Boys look like they've regained their early-season swagger. Seahawks will have to bottle up WR TERRELL OWENS, who comes off his second-best career yardage day – 213 yards on seven catches. "He's still got it," says Cowboys QB TONY ROMO.
ARIZONA CARDINALS at PHILADELPHIA EAGLES (NFL Network, 8:00 PM ET): The QBs are riled! And that's not good for the DBs. The Cards' KURT WARNER, after Arizona lost to the Giants on Sunday, says "we can play with anybody if we eliminate the mistakes." A win and the Cards capture the NFC West. QB DONOVAN MC NABB, benched for the first time in his career Sunday, is still the starter. "Sometimes you have to step back to step forward in a positive way, and Donovan will do that," says Eagles coach ANDY REID.
The rest of the Thanksgiving weekend schedule? It's packed with key games. Some of them:
NEW YORK GIANTS (10-1) at WASHINGTON REDSKINS (7-4)
A lot has happened since September!
Mostly good things. In that first game of the NFL 2008 season on that steamy September 4 Thursday night, the Giants'
defense pretty well handled the Redskins, limiting them to 209 total yards and only three of 13 third-down conversions in
the NFL head-coaching debut of Washington's JIM ZORN.
Now, two months later, both teams are in good stead. The Giants are tied with the Tennessee Titans for the best record
in the NFL (10-1). The Redskins are tied for second in the NFC East with the Dallas Cowboys.
In the late November cold of FedEx Field, the run game could play a big part. The Giants rank first in NFL rushing
and hope to get the league average-per-rush leader (5.4) BRANDON JACOBS (knee) back. The Redskins sit third in the league
in the category, thanks primarily to NFL rushing leader CLINTON PORTIS (1,206 yards). Thing is, these two units will go
against top-10 rush defenses (Giants, No. 6; Redskins, No. 7).
NFC Feast: The Giants and Redskins play in the winningest NFL division, the NFC East, with a .670 winning percentage.
PITTSBURGH STEELERS (8-3) at NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (7-4)
This game has a lot of scenarios.
First off, the AFC North-leading Steelers want revenge for a 34-13 pasting by the Patriots a year ago in New England when TOM BRADY threw for 399 yards and WR RANDY MOSS posted seven catches for 135 yards.
But things, of course, have changed in a year. Now MATT CASSEL's at QB for the Patriots and in each of his last two games has thrown for 400 yards (one more than Brady has in his career). Cassel can set the NFL consecutive record in the category with another 400-yarder this Sunday. Thing is, he goes against the toughest defense in the NFL that leads the league in overall, passing and rushing defense.
And he also faces marauding LBs JAMES HARRISON (12.0 sacks) and LA MARR WOODLEY (10.5), the only two players from the same team in the top five in NFL sacks. Cassel, who played mostly out of the shotgun last week against Miami, has been protected well recently by his OL, going down only six times in the last four games.
CHICAGO BEARS (6-5) at MINNESOTA VIKINGS (6-5)
A classic NFC North battle for first?
Well, yes, it is a fight for first place in the division, but the last time these two met (October 19), they set the series record for most points in a game (89 in a 48-41 Bears win). The teams totaled 766 yards. So much for the "black-and-blue."
Of course, with the two main running backs the teams boast, you could expect a grind-it-out game. The Vikes' second-year man, ADRIAN PETERSON, is second in the league in rushing with 1,180 yards. Three spots behind him is the NFL's leading rookie rusher, Chicago's MATT FORTÉ, with 909 yards. Forté is on pace (1,322 yards) to break the Bears' rookie rushing record of 1,183 yards set by ANTHONY THOMAS in 2001.
It won't be easy to add to those numbers Sunday night. Forté confronts the league's second-toughest rush unit and Peterson the fifth stingiest.
It's not a playoff-scenario game, but it will sure seem like one. "You could say this is the biggest game we've had in the division in a long time," says Bears head coach LOVIE SMITH. "They're a good football team. They've been playing well, especially here of late. We know them well. They know us well. Should be a heck of a game."
Nostalgia time: With a win, the Bears will register their 700th franchise victory (regular and postseason), the most in NFL history…the Vikings will wear their classic purple jerseys of the 1960-70s.
JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS (4-7) at HOUSTON TEXANS (4-7)
Hello, Houston!
The Texans play their first Monday night game ever against a Jaguars team that is 7-4 lifetime on the night. "Everybody in the NFL will tell you Monday night is something they look forward to," says Houston coach GARY KUBIAK. "You play in front of your peers. It will be exciting for Houston. We play a team that gives us fits, so we have to be ready to go."
The AFC South-rival Jaguars certainly gave the Texans – who have won seven of their past eight at home – a fit on September 28 when they topped them 30-27 in OT on a field goal set up by two completions by QB DAVID GARRARD.
Monday night viewers should watch for some players who do not get national attention such as tough Texans RB STEVE SLATON, the NFL's No. 3 rookie rusher (774 yards) who is only 5-9 and 201 pounds ("He does a great job of staying low," says Texans QB SAGE ROSENFELS)…Houston WR ANDRE JOHNSON, who leads the league in catches (81) and receiving yards (1,071) even though he's constantly schemed against…and Jaguars second-year LB JUSTIN DURANT, who "is in the DERRICK BROOKS (Tampa Bay) mold," says FOX analyst JOHN LYNCH.
Start of something big: Last Monday night game in Houston was on November 21, 1994 (Giants 13, Oilers 10), the debut of Houston's interim head coach JEFF FISHER -- now the NFL's longest-serving head coach.
NFL FACTOID
800 POINTS!: A total of 837 points -- more than 50 points per game (52.3) – were scored in the 16 games of Week 12, the first 800-point weekend in NFL history.

NFL 2008 WEEK 13 – THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 27 (THANKSGIVING DAY)
TENNESSEE TITANS (10-1) AT DETROIT LIONS (0-11)
After suffering their first loss of the season at home to the New York Jets the Tennessee Titans head to
Detroit to face the winless Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving day.
This is the 10th all-time meeting between the Titans and Lions. The Titans hold a 6-3 series lead. The
Titans have won the last two, including a victory in the last game of the NFL 2004 season. In the NFL 2004 (1/2/2005) finale,
linebacker Keith Bulluck returned a fumble 39 yards for a touchdown, running back Antowain Smith rushed for 89 yards
& a TD and QB Billy Volek throws for 175 yards & 1 TD in the Titans 24-19 win over the Lions.
The Titans-Lions matchup is the 69th Thanksgiving game in Detroit, a tradition
that dates back to 1934. The Lions are 33-33-2 in the Thanksgiving Day series, including a 24-21 loss
to the then-Houston Oilers on Nov. 26, 1992.
The 1992 game was the first and only Thanksgiving appearance in Detroit by the Titans
franchise. The Titans have played six times on Thanksgiving Day and are 4-2 in those games.
The Tennessee Titans last played on Thanksgiving on Nov. 27, 1997 in a 27-14 win at Dallas.
Going into their NFL 2008 Week 12 game against the New York Jets, the Titans were only the 11th NFL team
since 1970 to begin a season with 10 straight wins and held a team record 13 consecutive regular season victories
dating back to last season.
In NFL 2008 Week 12, the New York Jets handed the Titans their first loss of the season, delivering
a 34-13 defeat.
The Jets totaled 409 yards and controlled the ball for more than 40 minutes. Quarterback Brett Favre
completed 25 of 32 passes for 224 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Thomas Jones led
all runners with 96 yards on 27 attempts. Leon Washington added 82 yards and a pair of fourth-quarter
touchdowns on eight carries.
Meanwhile, the Titans struggled to run the ball and sustain drives, particularly
in the first half, during which they totaled five first downs and 88
yards on offense. They finished the game with only 11 rushing attempts, including
10 carries by Chris Johnson for 46 yards.
Titans quarterback Kerry Collins completed 21 of 39 passes for 243
yards and one touchdown. He found nine different teammates for completions,
but that was not enough to overcome a Jets team that never trailed in
its fifth consecutive win.
The Jets drove 76 yards on their opening possession
to take a 7-0 lead. Favre completed all six of his pass attempts on the drive,
including a 10-yard touchdown pass to Jones.
The Titans had a pair of opportunities in the first half but were unable to capitalize.
On the last play of the first quarter, Titans defensive
end Jevon Kearse stripped the ball from Washington, and defensive
tackle Kevin Vickerson recovered it. However, the Titans went three-andout
on the ensuing possession. They quickly forced another turnover, as
cornerback Cortland Finnegan intercepted a pass intended for Laveranues
Coles. But again, the Jets defense forced a three-and-out, and when their
offense got the ball back they marched downfield for a 20-yard field goal by
Jay Feely to go up 10-0.
The Titans finally got on the scoreboard with less than a minute remaining
in the second quarter when Rob Bironas connected on a 43-yard field
goal attempt.
The Jets scored on all four of their second-half possessions, beginning
with a 30-yard field goal by Feely to cap their opening drive in the third quarter.
On Tennessee's first play from scrimmage in the half, Johnson gained
11 yards before Abram Elam forced a fumble that was recovered by Bryan
Thomas. Eight plays later, Coles was in the end zone with a two-yard touchdown
reception from Favre.
A 49-yard field goal by Bironas pulled the Titans within 14 points of the
Jets early in the fourth quarter, but Washington then took a handoff 61 yards
for a touchdown.
Collins completed a six-yard touchdown pass to fullback Ahmard Hall
to make the score 27-13, but Washington ended the scoring with a four-yard
touchdown run to close a 12-play, 75-yard drive that used over seven minutes
and left the Titans with two minutes remaining on the clock.
Albert Haynesworth recorded 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble last week.
Despite losing to the Jets 34-13, the Titans are still off to their best start in franchise
history having started 9-2 on four prior occasions.
The Titans lead the AFC South division. The Indianapolis Colts are three games behind the Titans after
their win over the San Diego Chargers last week, while the Jacksonville Jaguars and Houston Texans are
in a tie for last place in the AFC South. The Titans still have the AFCs best record with the
Jets (8-3) and Pittsburgh Steelers (8-3) trailing closely behind.
The Lions hosted the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week. They jumped out to a 17-0
lead and recorded six sacks in the game, but the Buccaneers eventually pulled away with a
38-20 victory.

SEATTLE SEAHAWKS (2-9) AT DALLAS COWBOYS (7-4)
In 1966, the Dallas Cowboys took a chance as one of the newer NFL teams and volunteered
to host a game on Thanksgiving Day. In front of a record crowd of 80,259 at the Cotton Bowl
in Dallas, the Cowboys defeated the Cleveland Browns 26-14. Since then, the Cowboys have hosted
a Thanksgiving Day game every year except for 1975 and 1977 when the NFL allowed the
Saint Louis Cardinals to host games. In 1978, the game returned to Dallas on an annual basis.
The Dallas Cowboys have a 25-14-1 record when playing on Thanksgiving Day, including a six-game win streak
from 1980 to 1985. Dallas is currently on a two-game win streak after handing the New York Jets a 34-3 loss
last year. This will mark the third time the Cowboys and Seahawks will face each other on Thanksgiving Day.
Dallas and Seattle have squared off 11 times, with Dallas holding a 6-5 advantage. Dallas won the first three meetings
before its first loss. Seattle won the last two meetings, including the 2006 NFC WIld Card Playoff game.
The last time these two clubs met, the Dallas Cowboys headed to Seattle (Jan. 6, 2007) for a Wild Card Playoff Game
in front of 68,058 fans. The Cowboys hopes of advancing "slipped" through their hands, as they lost to the Seattle
Seahwaks 21 to 20.
NFL 2008 Week 12: Washington Redskins 20 Seattle Seahawks 17
The Seattle Seahawks lost their fourth game in a row as the Washington Redskins handed them a 20-17 loss. Matt Hasselbeck
completed 12-of-24 passes for 103 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Bobby Engram led Seahawks receivers with
34 yards on two receptions, while Maurice Morris rushed for 103 yards on 14 carries.
Seattle opened the game with a 45-yard field goal by Olindo Mare to gain the early 3-0 lead in the first quarter. After Washington
answered in the second quarter with a one-yard rushing touchdown by Ladell Betts, Morris caught a four-yard pass from
Hasselbeck to re-take a 10-7 lead before halftime.
The Redskins began the second half with two consecutive scores by way of a touchdown and a field goal to take a 17-10 lead
entering the fourth quarter. Hasselbeck then hit John Carlson for a 10-yard touchdown to tie the game at 17-17, but a Washington
field goal with 9:19 left proved to be enough for the final outcome in the Redskins favor, 20-17.
NFL 2008 Week 12: Dallas Cowboys 35 San Francisco 49ers 22
The Dallas Cowboys won their second straight game, defeating the San Francisco 49ers 35-22. San Francisco got on the
board first, when Nedney hit a 23-yard field goal, the drive after missing a 53-yarder wide left. Nedney then converted
on a 22-yard field goal at the end of the first quarter for a 6-0 lead. Dallas then scored 29 straight points that was
kicked off by a 75-yard Tony Romo-to-Terrell Owens touchdown hookup. Carlos Polk then blocked an Andy Lee punt that
rolled out of the end zone for a safety. Nick Folk gave Dallas a 12-6 lead after hitting a 48-yard field goal
midway through the second frame. He added a 41-yarder on Dallas' next drive before Martellus Bennett caught a
one-yard scoring toss from Romo to give Dallas a 22-6 half time lead.
Dallas opened the third quarter with a 10-yard Romo touchdown
pass to Patrick Crayton before Nedney closed the gap to 29-9 with
a 35-yard field goal. The teams traded turnovers with San Francisco
recovering a Romo fumble followed by an Anthony Henry interception
in the end zone to close out the period. Folk tacked on
a 47-yard field goal to open the fourth quarter, giving Dallas a 32-
9 lead. Shaun Hill found Isaac Bruce for an 18-yard touchdown
before Folk converted on a 42-yard field goal try. Hill then hooked
up with DeShaun Foster on a nine-yard touchdown to close out
the scoring.
SEATTLE SEAHAWKS (2-9)
QB MATT HASSELBECK has won 3 of 4 career starts vs. the Dallas Cowboys (including playoffs). In 12/6/04 meeting,

Thursday games.
ARIZONA CARDINALS (7-4) AT PHILADELPHIA EAGLES (5-5-1)
The Cardinals head to Philadelphia for a
Thanksgiving night showdown with the Eagles on NFL Network. A win versus the Eagles gives the Cardinals their first
division title since 1975. If the Cardinals lose, they could still clinch the division title this week if the Seahawks lose
or ties at Dallas on Thanksgiving and the 49ers lose at Buffalo on Sunday. Given the Eagles downward spiral over the past
two weeks the inevitable clinching of the NFC West division should happen during NFL 2008 Week 13.
The Cardinals and Eagles play each other for the 114th time in a series that is tied at 54-54-5.
The Cardinals have more wins against the Eagles than they do against any other franchise.
The rivalry between the Eagles and Cardinals dates back to their first meeting in 1935.
As members of the NFC East, the Cardinals and the Eagles faced each other 63 times between 1970 and 2001.
The Cardinals and Eagles play each other on Thanksgiving Day for the first time ever.
Since leaving the NFC East after the NFL 2001 season, the Cardinals have met the Eagles
twice and the teams split the two games, each winning at home.
Last Meeting: CARDINALS 27, Eagles 21 (December 24, 2005)
In the final Cardinals game ever at Sun Devil Stadium, Arizona topped the Eagles with a solid
overall outing and upped its record to 5-10 while Philly fell to 6-9. It was a match-up the
league's two most injury-plagued teams (Arizona entered the game with 14 players on IR,
Philly with 13) and both squads started back-up QBs. Arizona's Josh McCown performed well
in place of Kurt Warner, completing 27 of 38 passes for 284 yards with 2 TDs and 1 INT. He
fared far better than counterpart Mike McMahon, who was 12-33 for 151 with a TD and an
INT and was sacked four times.
Strong safety Adrian Wilson again led the Cards defense, recording several big plays
that included 2.0 sacks that upped his season total to a team-leading 8.0. Arizona limited the
Eagles to 146 total yards (43 rushing) and enjoyed a time of possession advantage of 17:48.
Cardinals kicker Neil Rackers hit a pair of 32-yard field goals in the first quarter to give
the Cards a 6-0 lead. They also pulled him to within a FG of tying the NFL's single-season
record of 39. Arizona's swarming defense did not allow a Philadelphia first down until midway
through the second quarter and was able to put points on the board itself when blitzing LB
Karlos Dansby tipped a McMahon pass in the air, gathered it in and raced 11 yards for his
second TD of the year. Philly moved to within 13-7 on its next drive, the key play of which
was a 12-yard Koy Detmer to Chad Lewis completion on a fake FG from the AZ 32 that
ultimately led to a 1-yard McMahon scoring run.
Arizona increased its lead to 20-7 on the opening drive of the second half with a 76-yard
drive that McCown ended with a 25-yard scoring pass to WR Larry Fitzgerald. The Cards
increased their lead to 27-7 early in the fourth when Anquan Boldin hauled in a 20-yard pass
from McCown that capped the team's longest scoring drive of the season (97 yards). Philly
added a pair of late scores that made the final margin 27-21.
Fitzgerald and Boldin recorded 93 and 81 receiving yards, respectively and each topped
the 1,300 yard mark for the season. They became just the sixth pair of teammates ever to
gain 1,300 receiving yards in the same season.
Last week (NFL 2008 Week 12)
In a match-up of division leaders, the Giants moved to 10-1 by playing an efficient,
mistake-free game while the Cardinals made enough mistakes to fall to 7-4. The loss snapped Arizona's 7-game home win streak and was the Giants 6th straight victory.
The Cardinals tallied 371 yards of offense against the Giants. However, two turnovers and a pair of long Domenik
Hixon kickoff returns gave the Giants excellent field position throughout the game.
QB Kurt Warner continued his MVP-worthy campaign, topping 300 passing yards for the 5th straight game; it extended his
franchise record and pulled him to within one of the NFL mark that he shares with Steve Young and Rich Gannon. He also
extended his streak of games with a TD pass to an NFL-best 19, tying the franchise record (Neil Lomax, 1984). Rookie RB
Tim Hightower had 2 rushing TDs to give him 9 for the season, the most among NFL rookies and ties the franchise
record for a rookie (Ronald Moore, 1993).
The NFL 2008 Week 12 loss ended the Cardinals 7-game home win streak, their longest streak since winning 9 straight in 1925.
The Philadelphia Eagles are coming off a 36-6 loss at Baltimore that dropped them to 5-5-1. The Eagles trailed just 10-7
at the half thanks to a 100-yard Quintin Demps kickoff return but they were outscored 26-0 in the 2nd half.
A win at Philly would give the Cards their first division title
since 1975 as a member of the NFC East. If they lose, the
Cards could still clinch this week if Seattle loses or ties at
Dallas on Thursday and the 49ers lose at Buffalo on Sunday.
The 3rd scenario that clinches is an Arizona tie at Philly plus a
San Fran loss or tie at Buffalo.
ARIZONA CARDINALS (7-4)
Rank 2nd in NFC averaging 28.9 points per game QB KURT WARNER aims for 6th in row with 325+ pass yards
& can tie RICH GANNON (2002) for longest streak in NFL history. In his starts with 15+ attempts. & 100.0+ rating (including
playoffs), his teams are 35-3 (.921) RB TIM HIGHTOWER leads NFL rookies with 9 rush TDs & is tied with RONALD

NFL 2008 WEEK 13 – SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 30
SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS (3-8) AT BUFFALO BILLS (6-5)
The Buffalo Bills host the San Francisco 49ers for the first time in more than 10 years this week. Buffalo will
look for their second win in a row over San Francisco. This week's game marks the first visit to Ralph Wilson
Stadium for San Francisco since the 1998 season.
The match-up between the Buffalo Bills and the San Francisco
49ers marks the 10th meeting between the teams, in a series that dates
back to 1972. The Bills hold a slight 5-4 edge in the series, including a
2-1 lead in games played in Orchard Park. The teams have not met in
Orchard Park since 1998, when the Bills beat the 49ers 26-21.
The last meeting between the two came on December 26th, 2004,
when the Bills traveled to San Francisco in search of their sixth straight
win. Buffalo rushed for 226 total yards and intercepted three San Francisco
passes en route to a 41-7 rout in Candlestick Park. Then-rookie
WR Lee Evans had eight receptions for 92 yards and two touchdowns to
lead the Bills.
Last week, the Bills capitalized on five turnovers by the Kansas City Chiefs on their way to a 54-31 victory at Arrowhead
Stadium. Buffalo's point total was the second-highest in franchise history and most since the team scored 58 points on
September 18, 1966 against the Miami Dolphins. The win snapped the Bills four-game losing streak.
After falling behind 7-0 early in the first, the Bills quickly responded
with a nine-play, 61-yard drive that ended with RB Marshawn Lynch pushing
into the end zone from one yard out. The fi rst quarter ended with the teams
tied at 7, but the game would turn in the second quarter on four Kansas City
turnovers.
Bills S George Wilson recovered a fumble forced by rookie CB Reggie
Corner, and Buffalo turned it into a 39-yard Rian Lindell FG. On the Chiefs
next possession, rookie CB Leodis McKelvin intercepted a pass intended for
Mark Bradley and returned it 64 yards for a touchdown and a 20-14 lead.
Buffalo QB Trent Edwards accounted for four Buffalo touchdowns
on the day. At the close of the second quarter, the Bills capitalized on another
McKelvin interception and ended the half with Edwards scrambling 15 yards
for the touchdown. He added another rushing touchdown to start the second
half, and then threw two, one to WR Josh Reed, Reed's fi rst touchdown reception
since 2006, and the second to TE Derek Schouman, Schouman's fi rst
career TD reception.
The win brings the Bills to 6-5, two games out of fi rst place in the
AFC East. The Bills will look for their second straight victory next week, as
they host the San Francisco 49ers at Ralph Wilson Stadium.

not lose. The Colts defense produced three sacks and held from its fiveyard
line on two game-deciding plays in the final minute. Harrison ended
the contest with 127 receptions, the most seasonal receptions by a player
in NFL history, while he also became the only NFL player with consecutive

CAROLINA PANTHERS (8-3) AT GREEN BAY PACKERS (5-6)
Their four game winning streak now history after last week's loss at
Atlanta, the Carolina Panthers will try to begin anew in one of the NFL's
toughest venues when they play the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field.
Sunday's game marks the 11th meeting and 10th regular
season matchup between the Panthers and Packers with Green Bay
holding a 6-3 advantage. This is the second consecutive season
Carolina will travel to Green Bay and the fourth time in series
history.
The Packers won a 31-17 (November 18, 2008) decision last year at
Lambeau Field. Green Bay QB Brett Favre passed for 3 TDs (4, 26, 12) as
the Packers improved to 10-1 for 1st time in 45 years.
In that game with wide receiver Steve Smith sidelined, Panthers receiver
Drew Carter enjoyed a career day with 132 receiving yards and one touchdown
on five receptions, but it was not
enough in a 31-17 loss at Green Bay. The Packers struck first when
cornerback Tramon Williams scooped up a pooch punt by kicker John
Kasay at the six-yard line and returned it 94 yards for a touchdown.
Following a 43-yard pass play from quarterback Vinny Testaverde to
Carter on the ensuing Panthers possession, Kasay connected from 26
yards to cut the Green Bay advantage to 7-3. The Packers quickly
answered as Brett Favre found wide receiver Greg Jennings for a fouryard
touchdown pass, capping off a six play, 71-yard drive. Favre found
tight end Donald Lee for his second touchdown strike of the day from 26
yards with 1:16 remaining in the first half, pushing the Packers advantage
to 21-3. After a pass interference penalty on the ensuing possession,
Testaverde and the Panthers offense found themselves on the Packers 11-
yard line with nine seconds remaining, but any thought of points before
halftime were dashed when Testaverde was sacked by defensive end
Aaron Kampman and fumbled the ball. Two minutes into the third
quarter, Favre connected with Lee again for his third touchdown pass of
the afternoon to give Green Bay a commanding 28-3 advantage.
Testaverde would toss scoring strikes of two and five yards, respectively,
to tight end Christian Fauria and wide receiver Drew Carter in the second
half. He finished the day 19-of-37 for 258 yards and two touchdowns with
two interceptions. Green Bay placekicker Mason Crosby added a 47-yard
field goal in the fourth quarter for the final 14-point margin of victory.
The Green Bay Packers were victorious in the first-ever meeting
between the two clubs, 30-13, in the 1996 NFC Championship
Game (1/12/97).
NFC South teams have dominated at home this NFL season and last week
was no exception as the two teams combined 73 points in the Atlanta Falcons 45-
28 win over the Panthers, one point shy of the most ever scored in the 14-year
rivalry.
On Monday Night Football, the Saints and Packers combined for 80
points in a 51-29 New Orleans victory at the Super Dome.
The Panthers had overcome double digit deficits to win three times
previously this NFL season and narrowed a 17-point lead to three before
succumbing against the Falcons.
"We came back and did some good things to get back in the game, but
it was a deep hole," says head coach John Fox.
The Panthers were able to rally on the strength of Jake Delhomme's
passing, Steve Smith's receiving and DeAngelo Williams' running, but it
was not enough to overcome the highest point total registered against
Carolina this season.
Delhomme completed 21 of 35 passing attempts for 295 yards and one
touchdown while Williams rushed for 101 yards and a touchdown in a
milestone performance for the third-year running back.
CAROLINA PANTHERS (8-3)
QB JAKE DELHOMME completed 17 of 24 (70.8 pct.) for 206 yards with 2 TDs vs. 0 INTs for 124.7 passer rating in

MIAMI DOLPHINS (6-5) AT ST. LOUIS RAMS (2-9)
The Miami Dolphins kick off a stretch in which they play four road contests over the final five weeks of the NFL 2008
season this Sunday when they take on the Saint Louis Rams.
The Dolphins lead the all-time regular season series with the Rams, 8-2, including a 3-1 mark since the franchise
moved to St. Louis in 1995. The most recent matchup between the Dolphins and Rams took place on October 24, 2004 when
the Dolphins emerged with a 31-14 victory. The Dolphins erupted for 323 yards of total offense, as wide receiver Chris
Chambers hauled in three passes for 128 yards and a touchdown.
This is the Rams fourth and final contest against an AFC East opponent this season. The Rams previously faced the
Buffalo Bills at home, and the New England Patriots and New York Jets on the road.
Last week, the Dolphins four-game winning streak come to a halt last Sunday at home, in a 48-28
defeat at the hands of the New England Patriots. The Dolphins and Patriots split the season series
for the fourth time in the last five years.
The Dolphins ran into an offensive juggernaut that accounted for points on eight of their
11 possessions of the game, including all five in the second half. It was a game that saw the
seven lead changes through the first three quarters before the New England Patriots pulled away
by scoring the final 17 points of the game.
The Dolphins offense did their best to keep pace with the proficient Patriots offense, as
quarterback Chad Pennington produced a career high 341 yards passing, while also tossing a
season high three scores. The Dolphins offense amassed 392 total net yards, the ninth week
in a row that they have recorded more than 340 yards, and they now have averaged more than
379 yards over this nine game span. On the defensive end of the ledger, Joey Porter produced
yet another sack, the ninth straight game in which he has had at least a half as he set a
single-season record for sacks by a Dolphins linebacker.
Patriots quarterback Matt Cassel finished the game by completing 30 of 43 passes for 415
yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions. Randy Moss had eight receptions for
125 yards and three touchdowns while Wes Welker collected eight catches for 120 yards.
For the second time in three weeks, the Dolphins will be facing a team led by an interim
head coach in St. Louis Jim Haslett. Marc Bulger's presence at quarterback always makes the St. Louis Rams
offensive attack a productive one, while defensive end Leonard Little has been one of the league's
leading sackers this decade.
The Rams returned home after spending two consecutive weeks on the road for their NFL 2008 Week 12 matchup against the
Chicago Bears. The Rams are 2-9 on the year following their 27-3 loss last week to the Chicago Bears.
In that game, WR Torry Holt passed Jimmy Smith (12,287) for 14th on the NFL's alltime
receiving yards list. Holt caught four passes to give him a reception in 148 consecutive games,
the fourth longest streak among active NFL players and the 11th all-time. Holt also recorded a
season-high 84-yards on four receptions, including a 38-yard long reception. DT La'Roi Glover
played in his 186th consecutive game, sixth longest streak among active players. DE Victor
Adeyanju tallied a career-high eight tackles.

The Saints lead the all-time series 20-13, but Tampa Bay has won six of the last 10
meetings. The Saints hold a slight edge as NFC South rivals at 7-6 with Tampa Bay losing
the first meeting between the teams in week one this NFL 2008 season, 24-20 in the Superdome.
Trailing 24 - 20 with 2:24 remaining in the game, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers took
possession near midfield and drove to the Saints 24-yard line. Facing a fourth-and-six, QB Jeff
Garcia's pass was intercepted by LB Scott Fujita to end the comeback attempt. The Buccaneers offense
racked up 352 yards, including 146 on the ground, in the closely fought battle. CB Philip Buchanon paced
the defense as he scored the eighth touchdown of his career, returning an interception 26 yards for a score.
The New Orleans Saints opened the game with a 76-yard touchdown drive as QB Drew Brees
hit WR David Patten for a 39-yard touchdown pass and an early 7-0 lead. Following a Buccaneers punt
on their first possession, New Orleans went to work inside its own 10-yard line. Four plays later, LB Barrett
Ruud hit Brees as he attempted to throw and Buchanon picked off the errant pass, returning it for
the score. The Buccaneers took their first lead of the game with three seconds remaining in the first half
as K Matt Bryant connected on a 37-yard field goal for a 10-7 Buccaneers lead.

Garcia to Hilliard two-yard touchdown pass for a 20 - 17 Buccaneers lead. New Orleans regained the lead
for good on the next drive as Brees connected with RB Reggie Bush on a 42-yard touchdown.
Tampa Bay had two final drives to regain the lead, but the first ended near midfield and the final drive ended
on the interception in Saints territory with less than a minute remaining in the game.
The Buccaneers won both meetings between these teams last season, with a 31-14 NFL 2007 Week 2
victory in Tampa and a 27-23 NFL 2007 Week 13 win in New Orleans. Over the past three NFL seasons,
either the Buccaneers or Saints have laid claim to the NFC South division title, with Tampa Bay earning
the division title in 2005 and 2007 and New Orleans winning in 2006.
Last week Tampa Bay won 38 - 20 after trailing 17-0 to the host
Detroit Lions at the end of the first quarter. The Tampa Bay Buccanneers
scored the game's next 35 points to record its third comeback win on the road
this NFL 2008 season.
The 17-point comeback is tied for the second-largest comeback in
team history and the 38 points scored by Tampa Bay are tied for the most in a
road game in team history. CB Ronde Barber recorded the 11th touchdown on
a fumble or interception return in his career, most among active players, and
finished the game with two interceptions. Rookie RB Clifton Smith also found
his way into the record books, becoming the first player in Buccaneers history to
return both a kickoff and a punt for a touchdown, returning a punt 70 yards for
a touchdown. Following a 15-yard touchdown pass from QB Daunte Culpepper
to WR Calvin Johnson on the Lions' second drive of the game, QB Jeff Garcia
collided with RB Carnell Williams in the backfield, causing a fumble that Detroit
S Daniel Bullocks returned 44 yards for a touchdown and a 14-0 advantage. K

and a 17-0 lead. The Buccaneers would dominate the second quarter, scoring
touchdowns on three straight drives, the first on a 13-yard run by RB Warrick
Dunn and the second on a 36-yard scoring pass from Garcia to WR Ike Hilliard.
On Detroit's second drive of the quarter, Culpepper was picked off by Barber
inside the Lions' 30-yard line and on the next play from scrimmage, Garcia connected
with TE Jerramy Stevens on a 24-yard touchdown pass to give Tampa
Bay its first lead of the day at 21-17. The Buccaneers extended their lead early
in the third quarter as Smith fielded a Lions punt and raced 70 yards for the
touchdown and a 28-17 lead. The Buccaneers put the game out of reach with
9:01 left in the third quarter as Barber picked off Culpepper for the second time
and went 65 yards for a touchdown and a 35-17 advantage. The teams would
trade field goals to close out the scoring.
Last week the New Orleans Saints defeated the Green Bay Packers at home 51-29 on Monday Night Football.

NFL allowing only 176.3 passing yards per game. Brees completed 20 of 26 passes for 323 yards as the New Orleans
Saints tied a franchise record for points scored (51) and touchdowns (7) in a single game.

NEW YORK GIANTS (10-1) AT WASHINGTON REDSKINS (7-4)
The New York Giants (10-1) look to win their seventh consecutive
game as they face the Washington Redskins on the road. The Giants are 4-1 on the road this NFL 2008 season and Washington
is 3-3 at home.
The Giants have played the Redskins every year since 1932 and lead the regular season series, 86-61-4.
The postseason series is tied, 1-1. The Giants are 5-5-1 against the Redskins in FedEx Field.
The Giants have faced the Redskins 152 times, making this their most frequently-contested rivalry.
The two teams kicked off the 2008 NFL regular season on September 4, a 16-7 Giants victory
at Giants Stadium.
The Giants offense sputtered for much of the game, but the defense was dominant. All of the scoring was in the
first half. Eli Manning scored on a one yard run and 44-year-old kicker John Carney kicked field goals of 24, 25
and 47 yards. The Giants also benefitted from big performances by Brandon Jacobs (116 rushing yards) and Plaxico
Burress (10 receptions for 133 yards). Manning completed 19 of 35 passes for 216 yards and an interception.
But it was the Giants defense that powered this victory. The Washington Redskins gained just 209 yards. The
Redskins had 11 first downs, 84 rushing yards and possessed the ball for only 24:17. The Redskins went
three-and-out on four of their seven possessions in the first three quarters. Washington's only score was a
12-yard Campbell touchdown pass to Santana Moss with 13 seconds remaining in the first half.
Despite holding their 16-7 halftime lead, the Giants were frustrated because they out-gained Washington, 241-51, and
thought the advantage should have been larger.
Last week (NFL 2008 Week 12) Brandon Jacobs was sidelined against the Arizona Cardinals because of a knee injury
suffered in the victory over Baltimore in Week 11. Plaxico Burress tried to play with a sore hamstring, but lasted
only one series.
Despite the absense of Brandon Jacobs due to a knee injury
and Plaxico Burress with a sore hamstring, the Giants defeated the Arizona Cardinals, 37-
29 at University of Phoenix Stadium – the site of their
Super Bowl XLII victory over the New England Patriots.
The victory was the Giants sixth in a row to improve their record to 10-1, now tied for the NFLs best mark after the
Tennessee Titans loss to the New York Jets. The New York Giants hold a commanding three-game lead in the NFC East over
both the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins and lead the Panthers and Buccaneers by two games for the best record in
the NFC and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.
Eli Manning threw three touchdown passes (Amani Toomer, Madison Hedgecock and Kevin Boss), Derrick
Ward scored on a one-yard run and John Carney kicked three field goals.
Domenik Hixon had 269 total yards (180 on kickoff returns, 57 receiving, 21 on punt
returns, plus an 11-yard rush). Hixon returned kickoffs for the
first time this season and had returns of 83 and 68 yards in the
second quarter. Hixon replaced the injured Plaxico Burress after the Giants first offensive series of the game
and led the Giants in receiving with six catches for 57 yards. Ward started for Jacobs and rushed for 69 yards
on 20 carries and caught four passes for 30 yards.
Eli Manning played completed 26 of 33 passes (career-best 79 percent completion rate)
for 240 yards, 3 touchdowns and 0 interceptions.
The victory was the Giants' sixth in a row and improved their record to 10-1, which is tied for the NFL's best mark after the
Tennessee Titans' loss on Sunday. More significantly, the Giants, with division games on tap the next three weeks, hold a
three-game lead in the NFC East over Dallas and Washington and are two games ahead of Carolina and Tampa Bay in the
race for the best record in the conference.
It was the Arizona Cardinals (7-4) first loss at home this NFL 2008 season.
The Washington Redskins handed the Seattle Seahawks a 20-17 loss in NFL 2008 Week 12 action.
The Seahawks opened the game with a 45-yard field goal by Olindo Mare to gain the early 3-0 lead in the first quarter.
After Washington answered in the second quarter with a one-yard rushing touchdown by Ladell Betts, Morris caught a
four-yard pass from Hasselbeck as the Seahwaks re-took a 10-7 lead before halftime.
However, the Redskins began the second half with two consecutive scores by way of a touchdown and a field goal to take
a 17-10 lead entering the fourth quarter. Hasselbeck then hit John Carlson for a 10-yard touchdown to tie the game at 17-17,
but a Washington Redskins field goal with 9:19 left proved to be enough for the final outcome in the Redskins favor, 20-17.

Matt Cassel 415 passing yards against the Dolphins, is the fifth time in NFL history a quarterback has totaled
400 or more passing yards in back-to-back games. Cassel threw for 400 yards against the New York Jets (Nov. 13).
Cassel is the first player to achieve the feat since Tennessee Titans QB Billy Volek in 2004 (426 yards on 12/13/04
and 492 yards on 12/19/04). In addition to Volek, the other NFL passers to have achieved the feat are San Diego's Dan
Fouts in 1982 (444 yards on 12/11/82 and 435 yards on 12/20/82), Miami's Dan Marino in 1984 (470 yards on 12/2/84 and
404 yards on 12/9/84) and the New York Giants' Phil Simms in 1985 (432 yards on 10/6/85 and 513 yards on 10/13/85).
Cassel joins Drew Bledsoe as the only Patriots quarterbacks to pass for 400 yards or more in two or more
games. Bledsoe had four 400-yard passing games with the Patriots (two in 1994, one in 1996 and one in 1998). The other
Patriots players to achieve the feat are Tom Brady (1), Tony Eason (1), Steve Grogan (1) and Tom Ramsey (1).

week, New England hosts the league's second-best team in games on Thanksgiving or later since 2001, with the Pittsburgh
Steelers coming to Gillette Stadium posting a 36-16 (.692) record in such games. New England will look to continue its

DENVER BRONCOS (6-5) AT NEW YORK JETS (8-3)
After impressive back-to-back road victories over the New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans, the Jets head home to
face the AFC West division leading Denver Broncos. The Jets have won five games in a row and seven of their last eight
games. The Denver Broncos (6-5) hold a two-game lead atop the AFC West with five weeks remaining in the NFL 2008 regular
season.
The Broncos own a 15-14-1 all-time regular-season record against the Jets, including a 6-7-1 mark on the road.
The two clubs last met in 2005 with the Broncos earning a 27-0 victory in Denver.
The Broncos are 1-0 against the Jets in the postseason, defeating the team 23-10 in the 1998 AFC
Championship Game at Mile High Stadium in Denver. Denver RB Mike Anderson rushed for 113 yards & 3 TDs as Broncos'
defense allowed only 195 yards, forced 5 turnovers & posted 1st shutout since 1997.
Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler is set to start against Jets QB Brett Favre for the second time. Favre, who is the
NFLs all-time leader in career passing yards (64,116) and touchdown passes (462), led Green Bay to a 19-13 overtime in
Denver on Oct. 29, 2007, when the two players first squared off. Cutler completed 21-of-34 passes for 264 yards with one
touchdown and no interceptions for 95.7 passer rating in that game. Favre finished that contest completing 21-of-27
passes for 331 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions for a 142.4 passer rating.
In his third NFL season, Cutler has played two full seasons (32 starts). In a comparison between Cutler and Favre's
first 32 starts, Cutler owns more passing yards (7,534-6,995), touchdown passes (48-39) and a higher passer rating
(87.7-78.1) than Favre through their first 32 starts.
In NFL 2008 Week 12, the New York Jets handed the Titans their first loss of the season, delivering
a 34-13 defeat. The Jets totaled 409 yards and controlled the ball on offense for 40 minutes and 30 seconds. Brett Favre
completed 25 of 32 passes for 224 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Thomas Jones led
all runners with 96 yards on 27 attempts. Leon Washington added 82 yards and a pair of fourth-quarter
touchdowns on eight carries.
The Jets drove 76 yards on their opening possession to take a 7-0 lead. Favre completed all six of his pass attempts on the drive,
including a 10-yard touchdown pass to Jones.
Meanwhile, the Jets defense was solid as the Titans offense struggled to run the ball and sustain drives, particularly
in the first half, during which they totaled five first downs and 88
yards on offense. The Titans finished the game with only 11 rushing attempts, including
10 carries by Chris Johnson for 46 yards.
The Jets offense has scored a franchise-record 115 points (38.3
points per game) in the last three games, has averaged a leaguehigh
33.0 points per game over the last eight contests and has
scored an NFL-best 38 touchdowns this season, led by a careerbest
11 from Thomas Jones.
Brett Favre has completed 65-of-84 passes in the last three
(77.4 percent, his best three-game stretch of his career), for 649
yards, five touchdowns and one interception for 113.6 rating.
The Jets defense is third in sacks (35), third in rush defense (78.0
yards per game) and fourth in rush yards per carry allowed (3.4).
After winning two consecutive games on the road, the Broncos
suffered a 31-10 loss at home to the Oakland Raiders last week. The Denver Broncos held the
Raiders to 123 yards of offense and just 2.9 yards per rush in the first half, but Oakland
broke open a 10-10 tie early in the third quarter by scoring touchdowns on three consecutive drives.
Despite the loss, the Denver Broncos maintained their two-game lead for first place in the AFC West
over the Chargers, who fell to 4-7 on the season after their 23-20 home loss to Indianapolis on Sunday
night. Denver has held the division lead following every week this NFL 2008 season, marking only the second
time in Broncos team history (1997) that it has been alone in first place through each of its first 11 games
of an NFL season.

Last Season 7 QBs threw for 4,000 yards, the most ever in a single season
The NFL has a long history of excellence at the quarterback position, but the recent influx of poised
and accurate passers has been steady and remarkable. Coaches' schemes continue to grow more
and more complex, taking advantage of the unique talents of today's QBs. Last season Seven quarterbacks threw
for 4,000 yards, the most ever in a single season; PEYTON MANNING continued to rise to the top of
the NFL's record books; Tom Brady was named the 2007 AP NFL MVP after a record-shattering regular season

With six combined kick-return touchdowns in 2007 (four punt and two kickoff), Chicago's DEVIN HESTER -- a Pro Bowl All-Star in each of his two NFL seasons -- is widely considered the

NFL 2008: Double Trouble Running Backs & Big Play Excitement Wide Receivers
Momentum comes in the form of a big play in the running or passing game.

Wide Receivers such as Torry Holt and Braylon Edwards produce momentum-changing exhilaration from their
teammates and the crowd.
