Certainly some will. But Polanski is after bigger, more slippery fish. He's less intrigued by specific topical reference points (waterboarding and the like) than by the cramped corridors of power, especially domestic power, and what misdeeds lie in the shadows.

"The Ghost Writer" Movie Trailer
THE GHOST WRITER stars Ewan McGregor, Pierce Brosnan, Kim Catrall, Olivia Williams, Tom Wilkinson, Timothy Hutton, & Eli Wallach and is directed by Academy Award-winner Roman Polanksi.
A gifted author hired to ghostwrite the memoirs of a controversial former British Prime Minister becomes a hunted man when he uncovers explosive secrets about the past. Ewan McGregor, Pierce Brosnan, Olivia Williams and Kim Catrall star in The Ghost Writer, a taut, suspenseful thriller from the Oscar®-winning director of The Piano.
The Ghost (Ewan McGregor) senses somethings not right from the minute he gets the lucrative assignment to complete Adam Langs (Pierce Brosnan) autobiography. For starters, the previous ghostwriter, a longtime aide to the ex-Prime Minister, is dead—an apparent suicide victim. As Lang becomes engulfed in a scandal over his administrations harsh counterterrorism tactics, The Ghost digs into the charismatic politicians past, discovering clues that he may be hiding something far more shocking than the current allegations against him.

Bruce Willis & Tracy Morgan in Cop Out
Tracy Morgan plays the motor-mouth NYPD detective partner of Bruce Willis, and there's no reason these two couldn't headline a perfectly proficient action comedy. But this is a lousy, invention-free script, and Kevin Smith cannot do anything to save it

Timothy Olyphant & Radha Mitchell in The Crazies
One of the year's nicest bloody surprises, the remake of the 1973 George A. Romero virus thriller The Crazies must be approached with the proper expectations. It should not be judged for what it is not. But nearly everything about it works.

Benno Furmann & Johanna Wokalek in North Face
In 1936, mountaineers Toni Kurz and Andi Hinterstoisser confront their own white hell and in an attempt to climb the north face of the Eiger, in the Bernese Swiss Alps. North Face, which generates undeniable tension though it's a film of oddly limited visual distinction, chronicles that attempt.

Cyril Raffaelli & David Belle in District 13: Ultimatum
On the heels of 'From Paris With Love' is 'District 13: Ultimatum,' more frenzied action from style-conscious Gallic popcorn impresario Luc Besson, and a follow-up to 2004's 'District B13.' That cult hit took the reality of France's immigrant unrest and devised a future Paris in which the government has cynically walled off the most gang-infested and racially charged ghettos.
