Time-Saving Apps for Moms

Facebook may steal hours of your life, but some technology can help give you time back. Get organized with these time -- and sanity -- saving apps

Busy moms on the go can't do it all by themselves. With our endless list of to-dos -- soccer practices, dance recitals, birthday parties and running the house -- it's a wonder that we can make it through the day. If only we had a little assistance to make life a little easier! Sure, we can't all have nannies or personal assistants, but we do have a powerful tool at our fingertips that can help us be more organized and less stressed: technology! If you have a smart phone or tablet, time management can be a snap.

I'm a mom of two, and have an awful lot on my plate. I rely on several time management tools that help keep me effective and on-task. I thought I would share them with you so that you can benefit, too.

Evernote

I simply love this app.

Evernote is available for your smart phone (Android and iPhone), tablet, and your laptop or desktop (via the web). You can write lists, make notes and store important information. Whether you're snapping pictures, uploading PDFs or saving online articles to read later, Evernote will store and sort all of your files, organizing them for you to retrieve later. The app syncs everything you put on it to all of your devices. That means you can take notes on your iPhone and read them later on your tablet.

What's even cooler about it is that it is totally free and can be accessed from anywhere you are.

Having Evernote has taken my productivity to a whole new level.

Remember the Milk

This application is great for a bevy of options and functions.

You can write out grocery lists, to-do lists and then sync them to your Google Calendar, so that you can manage your list anywhere -- online or offline. Get text or email reminders for important dates and deadlines, so you don't have to worry about anything falling through the cracks!

Lift

Need a tool that can help you set goals, track them and get support from your friends? Then Lift is a great time management tool for you.

Lift is currently available for the iPhone.

Set a goal, put the goal in Lift, and it will track your progress and show you how you are doing visually. You can also share these goals with select people and they can support and encourage you to victory. Whether your goal is to avoid ice cream or start flossing, it's a great motivator and can help you see how much time you are devoting to your goals.

Chronos

If you are anything like me, you may wonder where your time is being spent (and how you can spend less time on things in order to give you more time in other areas!). Chronos is a fabulous application for iOS that allows you to see just how much of a time suck that social media habit really is! Because it's GPS-enabled, it figures out what errands you are running, so you don't even have to type them in. It knows where you are and will show you how much time you spent at the cleaners, for instance, or waiting for an oil change. Then you can assess where you're losing valuable time, and how you might benefit from a schedule change.

Chronos will also encourage you when you are doing well (like getting more sleep, etc.) and you can compare with other Chronos user friends on time management in each category.

This is an awesome app!

With these four applications, you will be able to take your chores by storm, and still manage some time for the activities you'd rather be doing! Try them out and see just how much they can help get your days back on track.
