Forward Emmanuel Adebayor slotted a goal twice and the streaking Tottenham Hotspurs continued their climb in the English Premier League standings with a 3-1 victory against the West Bromwich Albion Saturday at the Hawthorns.

The Hotspurs overcame a one-goal deficit early on as Adebayor woke up the offense with a goal after picking up his missed penalty kick in the first half and chipped in another tally late to keep his team unbeaten in 10 English Premiership games.

Adebayor improved his goal tally to four in six games, powering the Hotspurs in the thick of a fight for Champions League contention and move the Hotspurs (9-1-2, 28 pts.) six points behind league leader Manchester City (11-1-0, 34 pts.)

Star forward Jermain Defoe, who has been benched most of the season, also struck in the 81st minute of the match.

Youssuf Mulumbu was the only bright spot for the Albion, scoring on a header in the 10th minute to give his team an early lead.

Tottenham fired 26 shots (11 on goal) and had 10 corner kick opportunities. They also dominated ball possessions, limiting West Bromwich to take just 11 shots and one corner kick attempts.

On the other English Premier League matches, Manchester United played to a controversial 1-1 draw with Newcastle Unites after a lineman disallowed a goal by Javier Hernandez.

Arsenal also eked out a draw with Fulham 1-1, Wigan Athletic edged Sunderland 2-1, Norwich City nipped Queens Park Rangers 2-1, Chelsea pummeled Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-0, Everton dropped Bolton Wanderers 2-0, and Stoke City clobbered Blackburn Rovers 3-1.
