Alex Ovechkin scored 88 seconds in and Jason Chimera added a tally midway through the second period, leading the Washington Capitals to a 2-1 win over the New York Rangers Wednesday night in game six of their Eastern Conference semifinal series.

The Caps forced a game 7 to be played Saturday at MSG.

New York, coming off an emotional game five overtime win on home ice, couldn't break through Caps goalie Braden Holby who stopped 30 of 31 shots in a sharp performance.

He outplayed Rangers netminder Henrik Lundqvist, who had 21 saves.

Nicklas Backstrom picked up a pair of assists for the Caps, who had a shutout snapped with Marian Gaborik's goal with 51 seconds left.
