Blue Jackets Pick Goalie Oscar Dansk in 2nd Round of 2012 NHL Draft

The Columbus Blue Jackets added another goaltender to their line-up, taking Swedish goalie Oscar Dansk as the 31st overall pick in the second round of the NHL Draft.
Earlier, the Blue Jackets acquired goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky from the Philadelphia Flyers for insurance in case unrestricted free agent Steve Mason leaves the team.
The 18-year-old Dansk has been playing junior hockey in Sweden with Brynas Junior but plans to begin playing in North America on his way to eventually joining the Blue Jackets in the NHL.
The 6-foot-2, 186-pound net minder is familiar with North American hockey as he played three years at the Shattuck St. Mary's High School in Minnesota.
Despite the fact that Dansk is not ready to make the jump to the NHL, Blue Jackets general manager Scott Howson knows the franchise needs depth all over, particularly in goaltending and defense.
''We need to add more goalies,'' Howson said. ''We need two more pros and we certainly need another goalie that can play in the NHL but not necessarily an NHL goalie yet.''
The Edmonton Oilers used the 32nd pick in the second draft to acquire left wing Mitchell Moroz. The Oilers picked Nail Yakupov with the No. 1 pick, hoping the speedy Russian can provide the much-needed boost.
The Montreal Canadiens selected right wing Sebastian Collberg while the New York Islanders picked defenseman Ville Pokka of Finland.
Nine Americans were drafted in the second round, led by winger Nicolas Kerdiles, who was taken with the 36th overall pick by the Anaheim Ducks.
The Winnipeg Jets grabbed center Lukas Sutter with the 39th pick. Sutter is the son of former NHL player Rich Sutter and the cousin of new Pittsburgh center Brandon Sutter.
"I'm the kind of gritty two-way player teams need," Sutter said
The rest of the 2nd round went as follows: Toronto Maple Leafs: Matthew Finn; Anaheim Ducks: Nicolas Kerdiles; Nashville Predators: Pontus Aberg; Carolina Hurricanes: Phillip Di Guiseppe; Winnipeg Jets: Lukas Sutter; Tampa Bay Lightnings: Dylan Blujus; Colorado Avalanche: Mitchell Heard; Calgary Flames: Patrick Sieloff; Dallas Stars: Ludwig Bystrom; Buffalo Sabres: Jake McCabe; Philadelphia Flyers: Anthony Stolarz; Minnesota Wild: Rafael Bussieres; Carolina Hurricanes: Brock McGinn; Chicago Blackhawks: Dillon Fournier;
Detroit Red Wings: Mark Frk; Nashville Predators: Colton Sissons; Montreal Canadiens: Dalton Thrower; Pittsburgh Penguins: Theodor Blueger; Tampa Bay Lightnings: Brian Hart; Dallas Stars: Mike Winther; San Jose Sharks: Chris Tierney; St. Louis Blues: Samuel Kurker; Vancouver: Alexandre Mallet; Phoenix: Jordan Martinook; New York Rangers: Cristoval Nieves; New Jersey Devils: Damon Severson; and Dallas Stars: Devin Shore.
