The Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly interested to trade for both Dwight Howard and Chris Paul in an effort to form another basketball superpower in Hollywood, a source close to situation reported Wednesday.

According to the source, the Lakers expressed their desire to trade anyone on their roster except Kobe Bryant to acquire both superstars.

With talents like Pau Gasol, Andrew Bynum, Ron Artest and Lamar Odom and huge financial room, the Lakers can certainly make this blockbuster trade into a reality.

Although Paul wants to form another Big 3 in New York (along with Amar'e Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony) and Howard contemplating on staying in Florida, the two All-Stars would probably love to play in the glitz and glamour of Los Angeles.

Basketball followers believe for the mega-trade to happen, the Lakers must send Gasol to New Orleans for Paul and Bynum and Odom to Orlando in exchange for Howard and Hedo Turkoglo's big contract.

"The Lakers are interested in trying to do something for both (Paul and Howard)," a Western Conference executive told ESPN Wednesday. "I would hate to see it happen. I want Howard to stay in the East and Paul to go to the East.

It's no secret that several teams are also interested in acquiring the best point guard and center in the league, but the team that could foil the Lakers' free-agency aspirations is the Los Angeles Clippers, which also have the talent and money to pull off this magnitude of a transaction.
