Hornets Star Guard Chris Paul Denies Trade Demand Rumors

New Orleans Hornets Chris Paul denied reports he requested a trade to the New York Knicks through his agent.
"It is just rumors, you can't control it," Paul told reporters after an informal practice with teammates.
"It's always going to happen, and it's part of the game. I'm just happy to be back with my team."
Yahoo! Sports first reported the 26-year-old, who is set to enter free agency at the conclusion of this season, informed the New Orleans Hornets that he would not sign an extension with the team and requested to be traded.
However, team general manager Dell Demps will not be allowed to talk to Paul until Dec. 9, when the North Carolina native will likely inform Demps of his intentions. The Knicks may not be a likely trade destination due to their lack of talent to offer in return, but rumours have also surrounded the Celtics, Lakers and Clippers.
The four-time All Star and two-time assist champion (2007-08, 2008-09) will be among the most coveted free agents for the summer of 2012 in a class that includes Dwight Howard and Deron Williams.
Paul averages 18.7 points, 9.9 assists and 2.4 assists per game over his six-year career, but just 15.8 points per game this past season. His performance seems to have already peaked, with his numbers steadily declining since a career best 22.8 point-11.0 assist per game showing in 2008-09.
