The Phoenix Suns acquired veteran Luis Scola after winning the amnesty auction for the finesse power forward.

The Suns added another solid piece in their rebuilding effort by bringing in Scola, who averaged 15.5 points and 6.5 boards last season.

The Houston Rockets released the 32-year-old Scola using their amnesty clause to clear $21 million over 3 years off their salary books.

Aside from the Suns and the Dallas Mavericks, there has been no report on how many teams actually made a blind bid for Scola. Teams are required to bid no less than $3 million for this coming season and at least $10 million for the next three seasons.

The Suns have slowly built a decent starting lineup with the signing of Scola, Michael Beasley ($18 million deal) and Goran Dragic ($34 million deal) since trading away veteran point guard Steve Nash to the Los Angeles Lakers.
