Columbus, OH

Urban Meyer inked a lucrative contract to take over as head coach of the Ohio State football program but it's not the only contract he will have to honor as he leads the Buckeyes.

Meyer pulled out a piece of pink paper during his press conference and it was a contract to his kids. Meyer has two daughters and a son and he had to promise them he'll take care of himself and not work too hard as coach of the Buckeyes.

"This is a contract that my kids made me sign before I was allowed to sign a real contract," he said. "It's tougher than any other contract I've signed in my life."

Whether Meyer lives up to his children's expectations remains to be seen because the expectations in Columbus are going to be exceedingly high.

The Buckeyes have to feel they have landed the perfect coach, a two-time national championship winner from the SEC who started his coaching career with Ohio State and who is from Ohio.

Meyer seems to think it is a prefect fit, perhaps the only fit.

"If not for the coaching position at Ohio State, I would not have coached this year."

Meyer has said a lot of things recently and they appear to be half true at best. He left Florida for a brief stretch in 2009 for health reasons and returned only to leave the Gators for good after the 2010 season to spend more time for his family.

Apparently Meyer crammed a lot of family time into the past year because he's back on the sidelines at one of the higher-profile programs in the country and he will be expected to win.

With a six-year deal that pays nearly $4.4 million a year, not counting bonuses and incentives, Meyer will have to work hard to make sure Ohio State bounces back quickly.

That could make living up to both contracts hard, but the coach/father/husband said he will do his best in all areas.
