Columbus, OH

Reports keep popping up that Urban Meyer is going to be the next football coach at Ohio State but the ex Florida coach keeps denying them.

The latest story came Wednesday when it was reported that Meyer and Ohio State reached a seven-year deal for the 47-year-old to become the next head coach of the Buckeyes.

A source had told Orlando television station WKMG Meyer agreed in principle to a seven-year, $40 million deal to become the coach in Columbus but Meyer issued a statement to ESPN insisting that he has not reached any agreement with the school.

"I have not been offered any job nor is there a deal in place," Meyer said. "I plan on spending Thanksgiving with my family and will not comment on this any further."

According to the report by WKMG, Meyer has not only agreed to coach Ohio State, but also has part of his staff already picked out. The reports said current Gators linebackers coach D.J. Durkin would become Ohio State's defensive coordinator, and Mickey Marotti, the current strength coach at Florida, would become the Buckeye's director of football operations.

Meyer is an Ohio native and started his coaching career as a graduate assistant coach for the Buckeyes in 1986.

Meyer went 65-15 with a pair of National Championships while at Florida and is 103-23 in a carre that has included head coaching stops at Bowling Green, Utah and Florida.
