Ohio State president E. Gordon Gee seems to view his football program a little differently than those outside Columbus.

Despite three separate incidents in the last year that have resulted in Ohio State football players being suspended Gee still holds the Buckeyes football program up as a model.

Speaking at his annual fall address to faculty, Gee said that Ohio State school is doing what needs to be done to make sure it is following NCAA rules.

"We are the poster child for compliance, and whenever we discover a possible infraction, we resolve and report it to the NCAA, no matter how minor the violation. That's what we have done here," Gee said.

The latest incident involves wide receiver DeVier Posey, running back Dan Herron and one other player being over compensated for summer jobs. The trio is suspended for this Saturday's game at Nebraska.

Posey and Herron were already two of five players suspended five games last December for selling of memorabilia and receiving impermissible benefits. That case led to quarterback Terrelle Pryor leaving for the NFL's supplemental draft and coach Jim Tressel being let go in May.

Three other players missed the first two games of the season for being paid at a charity event.

Despite all the incidents that have left the school facing NCAA sanctions, athletic director Gene Smith still has Gee in his corner.

"I think we are blessed to have an extraordinarily talented athletic director who has proven his mettle through an extraordinarily tough time," Gee said.
