Baton Rouge, LA

After reaching the top spot in the latest coaches' pool, the LSU Tigers once again set the bar higher in Saturday's 35-7 demolition against the Kentucky Wildcats.

The Tigers continued their mercurial journey to the BCS crown Saturday as they ripped apart the Wildcats on their home turf.

As expected, the relentless defense of cornerback Tyrann Mathieu and electrifying offensive plays from quarterback Jarrett Lee and wideout Odell Beckham Jr. keyed LSU to victory but the match also saw a more potent Tigers attack with the arrival of quarterback Jordan Jefferson.

Jefferson, who was suspended in the first four games due to an Aug.29 bar fight, made his season debut Saturday and scored on a 1-yard run.

Although Lee will continue to be the team's starting quarterback, Jefferson's addition certainly added more firepower to an already talented unit.

LSU coach Les Miles believed Jefferson's late reinstatement will not distract his team instead the quarterback's return gives more dimension to their offensive system.

Of course, their defense kept doing its job as Mathieu came away with two strips, including one that paved way to a 23-yard return in the third period.

Mathieu, who has emerged as a top cornerback this season, collected his eighth forced fumble of his college football career.

LSU will host the resurging Florida Gators Saturday before taking on Florida, Tennessee, Auburn, and Alabama in a much-anticipated SEC Western Division Clash on Nov.5.
