Atlantic Coast Conference presidents are considering increasing the buyout for member schools to leave the conference, according to two sources close to the ACC.

According to a report, league presidents are scheduled to discuss the topic early next week at their annual September meetings, but it is not the first time the topic has been discussed by the group.

The report by ESPN.com also says the current buyout for an ACC team to leave the conference, according to both sources, is between $10 million to $13 million.

ACC officials, presidents and athletic directors have said repeatedly that all 12 schools are fully committed to the current membership. An increase to the current buyout would force schools to stand behind their word and make it more costly to leave the ACC.

Any change related to conference membership in the ACC's constitution or bylaws happens at the presidential level.

Talk of expansion and 16-team "super" conferences could be what is causing the ACC to consider an increase in buyout. The Big 12 appears to be teetering on the brink of collapse and the SEC, Pac-12, Big East and Big Ten are all said to be seeking additional schools.

An ACC team, Maryland, was listed as a team of interest for the Big Ten in a recent report.
