N.C. State Nabs Highly-Rated Recruit T.J. Warren

Raleigh, NC

North Carolina State received a boost to its latest recruiting class when T.J. Warren opted to play for the Wolfpack.

One of the top high school basketball players in the country, Warren chose N.C. State over Georgetown.

The commitment of Warren goes a long way in giving first-year N.C. State coach Mark Gottfried one of the top 2012 recruiting classes in the country.

Warren will now be headed for the same program his father, Tony Warren, did. The elder Warren played for coach Norm Sloan 32 years ago.

T.J. also joins a pair of friends in Gottfried's recruiting class as he will play alongside recruits Rodney Purvis and Tyler Lewis.

The 6-foot-7 forward from Durham is the 23rd-best player in the class by some recruiting outlets. He transferred to Brewster Academy in central New Hampshire for his senior season but was a standout at Durham Riverside and Raleigh's Word of God in his first three high school seasons.

Warren had a tremendous summer with the Garner Road Bulldogs club team to send his stock soaring.

He was being sought by Florida, North Carolina, Kansas and Ohio State before narrowing his choice to the Wolfpack and the Hoyas a week ago.
