New York, NY
HBO's "Real Sports" host Bryant Gumbel lambasted NBA commissioner David Stern Tuesday, likening the pro-basketball's top honcho to a 'plantation overseer.'
Gumbel, who made critical comments in the past, was at it again in Tuesday night's episode of HBO's Real Sports as he delivered his opinion about the prolonged labor dispute in the NBA.
"Stern's version of what has been going on behind closed doors has of course been disputed, but his efforts were typical of a commissioner who has always seemed eager to be viewed as some kind of modern plantation overseer, treating NBA men as if they were his boys," Gumbel said Tuesday on his show.
Gumbel said he 'didn't care' about possibly receiving negative feedback after taking a shot at the NBA commissioner.
After Tuesday's 16-hour meeting, the Players Union and the NBA remain in a standoff with the whole 2011-2012 season possibly on the brink of being cancelled.
