Phillies Send Shane Victorino to Dodgers

In the midst of a disappointing season, the Philadelphia Phillies have sent veteran Shane Victorino to the Los Angeles Dodgers for two pitchers.
The Dodgers traded right-handed relief pitcher Josh Lindblom and Double-A right-handed relief pitcher Ethan Martin for Victorino. Philadelphia is also set to receive a player to be named or cash from the trade.
Looking to overhaul after a disappointing year, the Phillies bolstered their bullpen by trading Victorino, who played in Philadelphia for eight years.
A free agent after this season, Victorino earlier sought a long-term deal from the Phillies but was rejected. He was set to earn $9.5 million this season.
During his stint with the Phillies, Victorino helped key Philadelphia's five straight NL East titles and the 2008 World Series championship.
In 101 games for Philadelphia, Victorino batted .261 with 101 hits, nine homers, 40 RBIs and had 24 stolen bases. He was originally drafted by the Dodgers in 1999 but started his Major League career with the San Diego Padres in 2003.
"We're excited to add an All-Star-caliber player with postseason experience," said Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti in a statement. "He plays the game with passion, gives us a top-of-the-order bat from both sides of the plate, can steal bases and is solid defensively in the outfield."
Victorino gives the Dodgers a proven leadoff hitter with disruptive base-stealing skills. He is a three-time Gold Glove center fielder, where the Dodgers have reigning Gold Glover Matt Kemp.
Kemp however told the club that he would move to left field if it successfully acquired Victorino, who hasn't played left field since 2006.
Lindblom is 2-2 with a 3.02 ERA in 48 appearances this season for the Dodgers while Martin was the Dodgers' first-round pick in the 2008 First-Year Player Draft. He is 8-6 with a 3.58 ERA in 20 starts this season with Double-A Chattanooga.
