Though he balked at the hefty price tag when he reportedly offered to buy the Dodgers several months ago, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban did not rule out a future bid.

Known for being outspoken and his passionate style, Cuban, who is looking to expand his influence to other leagues in addition to the NBA, where he owns the defending champion Mavs, has indicated interest in buying the Dodgers, but only for the right amount.

"It all comes down to price," Cuban indicated via email to ESPNLosAngeles.com. "It's important to have more than enough money to pay players and invest in the organization."

Cuban, according to the Los Angeles Times, offered to buy the Dodgers several months ago but declined to enter negotiations because Frank McCourt's asking price was too high.

McCourt indicated the price of the club would be in the range of "$1 billion to $1.2 billion."

Had that deal materialized, observers noted, that the passionate, but sometimes colorful Cuban could have helped usher the rebirth of one of the most storied franchises in all of baseball.

Despite that temporary setback, the 53-year-old American business magnate remains on the prowl in Major League Baseball and is included in the list of potential bidders for the Dodgers.

Cuban previously failed in bids to purchase the Chicago Cubs and Texas Rangers.
