Los Angeles Dodgers owner Frank McCourt has finally agreed to sell the team, according to multiple reports.

The recently divorced McCourt has endured strained relations with the team's fan base for several years and has clashed with MLB Commissioner Bud Selig, as well.

The team is expected to fetch in the $1 billion range, more than double what McCourt purchased it for on mostly borrowed funds in early 2004.

It will be a "court-supervised process" according to a joint statement from McCourt and MLB, which reached agreement Tuesday night that a sale would take place for one of sports' most iconic franchises.

It will also put an end to the tense relations between MLB and the organization.

"As the commissioner knows and as our legal documents have clearly shown, he approved and praised the structure of the team about which he belatedly complains," the team said in a statement during one of the rancorous exchanges.
