David Ortiz is going to have options and going to have to figure out where he wants to finish out his career.

A free agent to be and in line for what in all likelihood will be his last big payday, Ortiz will have to decide if he's going to stay in Boston and help the Red Sox rebound from a terrible collapse or if he will write the last chapter of his career story somewhere else.

Ortiz hit .309 with 29 homers and 96 RBI this year, putting himself in position for a multiyear contract.

But which team will it come from?

After the season Ortiz said he would consider playing for the New York Yankees while saying the drama around the Red Sox had gotten to be too much.

Coy marketing of himself, maybe, because Ortiz sang a different tune weeks later.

During a press conference at the World Series, where he was honored as the winner of the Roberto Clemente Award, he told reporters he's open to returning to Boston.

"Of course, I would like to come back," Ortiz said. "They have a lot of things going on right now. So once they go through all the stuff, GM and managing things, I think they're going to start talking to the players. So, we'll see. We've got time."

Ortiz, who turns 36 in November, will likely want a two-year deal possibly longer.

While he said he would go to New York, Ortiz is likely bound for another AL East rival if he does indeed leave Boston.

The Toronto Blue Jays finished 81-81 this seasno and have money to spend in free agency. A source told the Boston Herald that the Jays "will not rule out" making a serious push for Ortiz.

Ortiz knows Blue Jays manager John Farrell, a former Red Sox pitching coach, and Big Papi has always put up big numbers at Rogers Centre, where he has hit 29 career homers, more than any ballpark except Fenway Park.
