Brad Evans buried a goal two minutes into stoppage time to carry the United States to a crucial 2-1 win over Jamaica in their FIFA World Cup qualifying match.

After receiving a short corner, Michael Bradley found Evans then turned and fired home the game-winning tally.

Evans received a yellow card after he put his jersey over his head. He later admitted that emotions got the better of him after delivering the winning goal.

"Yeah it was insane, it was crazy," Evans said. "Had to take a yellow card there but I was so excited to get the win. It's just a great feeling."

Overall, the U.S. had the advantage offensively as it had a 56-44 edge in possession time, but Jamaica had plenty of opportunities to score as it finished the game with 16 shots.

With the three points, the Americans joined Costa Rica and Mexico in the tournament that will put three automatic qualifiers for next year's World Cup in Brazil.

It was the second win for the United States in four qualifying games of what will be a 10-match tournament among the six regional finalists.

The Americans, Costa Ricans and Mexicans have seven points apiece. Costa Rica defeated Honduras, 1-0, while Mexico settled for a scoreless tie with Panama. The Mexicans has played one more game than the United States or Costa Rica.

Panama has six points, Honduras has four and Panama is stuck on two. The top three teams earn a berth in the World Cup and the fourth-place finisher will meet New Zealand to determine the final qualifier.

The United States will host Panama in Seattle next Tuesday will entertain Honduras in Sandy, Utah one week later.

Jozy Altidore scored the other goal for the Americans while Jamaica's Jermaine Beckford scored in the 89th minute to forge a 1-1 tie.
