Varney, McCormack Score as Leeds Eliminates Tottenham from FA Cup

Luke Varney and Ross McCormack scored as Leeds eliminated Premier League team Tottenham Hotspur from the FA Cup with a 2-1 win in the fourth round Sunday at Elland Road.
The upset win came after Luton triumphed over Norwich and MK Dons defeated QPR earlier in the week.
Varney gave Leeds an early lead in the 15th minute as the Hotspurs, playing with Clint Dempsey as the only striker, failed to convert a series of first-half chances.
Then, McCormack capitalized on the poor defense by Tottenham to make it 2-0 in the 50th minute.
Dempsey headed home Gareth Bale's cross late on to give the visitors hope but Jon Obika wasted a great chance to level late in the match.
|Leeds made the most of their chances and we missed early chances that normally we score and when we suffer we are always chasing," Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas said.
"It was good to get back in the game but we should have done better. It's a hard game for any team that comes here. Leeds was really up for it," he added.
Meanwhile, Brentford earned the right to play European champions Chelsea in a fourth-round replay at Stamford Bridge following a superb 2-2 draw against the Premier League team at Griffin Park.
Brentford led twice in the game but was denied of an upset victory after Fernando Torres delivered the equalizer in the 83rd minute.
Brentford took the early lead behind Marcelo Trotta's goal in the 42nd minute before Oscar delivered the equalizer in the 55th minute for Chelsea.
A penalty kick by Harry Forrester in the 73rd minute gave Brentford a 2-1 lead but Torres, set up by Demba Ba, broke the collective hearts of 12,000 fans when he tied the game with a curler.
"Maybe being 2-1 up with five minutes to go I'm slightly disappointed we didn't win the game," said Brentford manager Uwe Rosler.
"But overall my players did fantastic and they earned the right to play at Stamford Bridge. It will be a great occasion again for our supporters and our players - and also financially it will be important," he added.
