Amsterdam, Netherlands

Branislav Ivanovic buried a stoppage-time header as Chelsea captured the Europa League crown with a 2-1 victory over Benfica at Amsterdam Arena.

"It's a great feeling to play in the final. Benfica played very well but in the end we scored from set-pieces. Now it's time to celebrate," said Ivanovic, who scored the game-winning goal three minutes into stoppage time.

With the win, Chelsea became the first team to hold the Champions League and Europa League titles at the same time.

The victory came as redemption for interim manager Rafael Benitez, who capped his tumultuous stint by making Chelsea the fourth team behind Juventus, Ajax and Bayern Munich to win all UEFA's top competitions.

"I'm proud," said Benitez, who could be replaced by Jose Mourinho next season. "It was not easy, we have been talking about this all the time so I am really pleased, really proud. It was a great performance in the second half."

"We had some problems in the first half against a very good team but I am pleased for the players and for everybody involved. They deserved it because they worked hard the whole season," he added.

Fernando Torres scored his sixth goal in six Europa League games for Chelsea's other tally while Oscar Cardozo recorded Benfica's goal via penalty for handball against Cesar Azpilicueta.

"They (Benfica) were much better in the first half but individual quality made the difference. It was the final, maybe the only chance we had to win the Europa League, and we won it," Torres said.

In the 59th minute, Torres received a pass by goalkeeper Petr Cech and sped past Luisao before he kicked the ball past Artur for a 1-0 lead.

In the 68th minute, Azpilicueta was penalized for handball and Cardozo struck the penalty down the center for his seventh goal in the Europa League.

Chelsea had a chance to clinch the win in regulation but Frank Lampard's attempt hit the bar in the 88th minute before Ivanovic came through with his game-winning shot in stoppage time.
