'Flacco Fling' Helps Ravens Stun Broncos
NFL Divisional Playoff Round
Denver, CO
Joe Flacco covered 331 yards on 18-for-34 passing with three touchdowns and Justin Tucker converted a go-ahead 47-yard field goal in a second overtime period as the Baltimore Ravens shocked the first-seeded Denver Broncos, 38-35, Saturday at Sports Authority Field.
Flacco overcame great pressure from the Broncos defense to fire the game-tying 70-yard touchdown pass to Jacoby Jones with 31 second left in regulation. Denver did have blown coverage on the play, however.
The Ravens then endured the physical nature of the overtime period before Tucker delivered the game-winning FG kick in the second overtime, preventing quarterback Peyton Manning from winning his first playoff game since joining the Broncos.
Manning, who covered 290 yards on 28-for-43 passing with three TDs and two interceptions, guided the Broncos to a 21-14 lead in the second quarter but the Ravens kept coming back.
Manning put the Broncos up 35-28 after finding Demaryius Thomas for a 17-yard TD pass before Flacco came through with his late game theatrics.
With the victory, the Ravens gave legendary linebacker Ray Lewis another week to his career and a date with the winner in the other AFC playoff match between the New England Patriots and the Houston Texans Sunday.
