49ers Rebound with Pummeling of Jets
Fitzgerald Cecilio
East Rutherford, NJ
Frank Gore rushed for a touchdown and the San Francisco 49ers defense forced four turnovers in a bounce-back 34-0 shutout of the New York Jets.
The 49ers (3-1) rebounded from their first loss last week thanks to Gore, the defense and backup quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who scored his first career touchdown on a run in the second quarter.
The Jets (2-2) struggled all day. Mark Sanchez completed only 13 of 29 passes for 103 yards, was intercepted once and fumbled once.
It got even worse for New york late as wide receiver Santonio Holmes suffered a knee injury early in the fourth quarter.
San Francisco led 10-0 at the half thanks to a 7-yard TD run by Kaepernick and a 36-yard field goal by David Akers. The 49ers have yet to suffer back-to-back losses under head coach Jim Harbaugh.
Today was a day to forget for Jets fans. They simply did not show up this afternoon against the 49ers … Dyrol Joyner has the rest of Gang Greens big Sunday flop
