Veteran wide receiver Terrell Owens announced on Twitter account that he is no longer a member of the Seattle Seahawks.

"I'm no longer a Seahawk. I thank the organization for the opportunity. I'm truly blessed beyond belief. My faith is intact & will not waive," the 38-year-old Owens said in his account.

Owens was among those who were cut by the Seahawks as they trim their roster to 75 players by Monday in a league-mandated reduction.

Despite an 18-month absence, the Seahawks signed the veteran receiver to a one-year deal Aug. 6 after an impressive workout.

Owens finished the preseason with just two receptions, both against the Kansas City Chiefs. He caught a 40-yard catch from Russell Wilson and a 1-yard reception on a screen. He, however, dropped a potential 46-yard touchdown against Denver on a perfect throw from Matt Flynn.

Owens last played in a NFL regular season game with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2010. He underwent left knee surgery and sat out the entire 2011 season after receiving no offer from any NFL team.

He attempted a comeback with the Allen Wranglers of the Indoor Football League, where he had 35 catches for 420 yards and 10 touchdowns in eight games but he was released due to conduct problems in May.

A third-round draft choice by San Francisco in 1996, Owens has played a career 219 regular-season NFL games with 1,078 receptions for 15,934 yards and league's second-best 153 touchdowns.

Owens had nine seasons with at least 1,000 yards receiving and 13 years with at least 50 catches while his total receptions are sixth on the NFL career list.

He played for the 49ers for eight seasons before seeing action for Philadelphia for two years. He also played three years for Dallas before playing one season each for Buffalo and Cincinnati.
