Andy Reid will soon move out of the unemployment line as he is expected to be hired by the Kansas City Chiefs as their next head coach, according to league sources.

Reid met with Chiefs key officials for nine hours to discuss salary details as well as organizational structure, salary and coaching budgets.

According to sources, Reid found it necessary to meet with various key members of the organization, including general manager Scott Pioli and Ted Crews, the vice president of communications for the AFC West franchise

Also included in the Chiefs' contingent who met with Reid were owner Clark Hunt, executive Ryan Petkoff and president Mark Donovan, who used to work in Philadelphia with Reid.

Sources said that Reid will not build his front office with Pioli on board despite their close relationship in Philadelphia if he reaches a deal with Hunt.

Sources added that Reid did not demand that former Browns GM Tom Heckert be hired as the team's future general manager as part of a package because he still wants to gauge whether Packers director of operations John Dorsey would consider the position of GM.

With Reid in serious talks with the Chiefs, sources said the Cardinals have cancelled their private jet that would take the head coach to Arizona for a meeting.

If ever Reid doesn't sign with the Chiefs, he is prepared to interview with the Cardinals Friday and with the San Diego Chargers Sunday, sources said.

Reid was fired by the Eagles after 14 years at the helm. Since his arrival in Philadelphia in 1999, the Eagles have 130 regular-season wins, the NFL's sixth-highest total in that span.

Philadelphia also have 10 postseason wins, third-most since 1999, and six division titles, also third-most, under their former coach.

Kansas City fired coach Romeo Crennel on Monday after a 2-14 season.
