Michael Vick will be the Philadelphia Eagles' starting quarterback anew when they face the New York Giants Sunday after Nick Foles suffered a broken hand against the Washington Redskins.
"Nick will obviously not play this week," head coach Andy Reid said regarding Foles' throwing hand. "This was something that showed up on the MRI this morning; it wasn't present on the X-ray.
"There's a pretty good chance Michael will be the starter. That's what we're looking at right now. That's the direction I'm going as we speak right now," he added.
Vick was the Eagles' starting quarterback for nine games before he suffered a concussion against the Dallas Cowboys Nov. 11 that sidelined him for six games. Reid then designated Foles to replace Vick in the starting lineup.
Happy with his performance despite a string of losses, Reid announced that Foles will be the team's starting quarterback for the rest of season, though Vick was cleared to play.
However, Foles suffered the injury against the Redskins, forcing Reid to bring Vick back as starter.
Reid said he spoke with Vick Monday, saying that the quarterback will be "ready to go."
"This past week I thought he threw it around well," Reid said.
With a 4-11 record, the Eagles are just eyeing to play the spoiler's role when they take on the Giants, who are still in the hunt for a playoff spot.
