If he had his way, Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson wants to keep playing alongside wide receiver Percy Harvin.

However, the Vikings have other plans as they eye to trade Harvin after the wideout declared that he will hold out if the team doesn't give him a contract extension.

Harvin is scheduled to make $2.9 million in the final year of the deal that he signed in his rookie year.

"I don't know if we will or not, but me, individually and in my opinion, I wouldn't trade him," Peterson told KFAN-FM Tuesday. "No, I wouldn't trade him."

This season, Harvin became one of the Vikings offensive weapons, aside from Peterson. In nine games, he caught 62 passes for 677 yards and three touchdowns.

In his rookie year, Harvin won the 2009 Offensive Rookie of the Year award and made it to the Pro Bowl after tallying 790 yards on 60 catches and six touchdowns.

"To do the things that he's able to do, I don't think there will be a player that's able to do it better than him, ever," Peterson said. "The things he's able to do. He does so much. There will never be another player that can do it better than him".

Peterson said he's hoping that the Minnesota Vikings and Harvin could work things out before the season starts.
