The Philadelphia Eagles do not plan to cut Michael Vick.

In keeping Vick, the Eagles guarantee the quarterback $3 million and extends its time to evaluate him.

The Eagles could cut Vick and free themselves from the obligation if someone else pays him $3 million.

They can also trade him or re-negotiate his contract and keep him.

Vick has had his ups and downs in recent years on and off the field, including being imprisoned on dogfighting charges.

The talented signal-caller has had his share of success, passing for over 3,000 yards in his last two seasons in Philly, while rushing for nine scores in the 2010 campaign.

He only rushed for one score in 2011, however, and his propensity to fumble at key times and get sacked has also hurt the Eagles.
