Chiefs Travel To Philadelphia to Face Eagles in Thursday Night Contest

The Kansas City Chiefs travel to Philadelphia to face the Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field in a Thursday night matchup on NFL Network.

Thursday's contest marks Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid's initial return to Philadelphia to take on the team he captained for 14 seasons (1999 - 2012). While in Philadelphia, Reid compiled a 130-93-1 regular season record, appeared in one Super Bowl, fi ve NFC Championships and 19 postseason games.

Kansas City enters the contest 2-0 after defeating the Dallas Cowboys 17-16 at Arrowhead Stadium in the club's home opener on Sept. 15. The Chiefs defense forced two turnovers, 3.0 sacks and held Dallas to only 37 rushing yards. DT Dontari Poe tallied 2.0 sacks and S Eric Berry recoverd a fumble. CB Ron Parker notched the club's other sack, forcing a fumble and recovering it all on the same play.

Offensively, Kansas City posted 313 net yards. QB Alex Smith was 21 of 36 passing for 223 yards with two touchdown passes (95.0 rtg.). WR Dwayne Bowe led the club in receiving yards with 56 yards on four catches with one touchdown. RB Jamaal Charles caught eight passes for 48 yards with one touchdown.

Philadelphia enters Thursday's contest 1-1 after suffering a 33-30 loss to the San Diego Chargers on Sept. 15. San Diego K Nick Novak hit a 46-yard fi eld goal in the game's closing seconds to steal victory in Philadelphia.

Following Thursday's game against the Eagles, Kansas City returns home to face the New York Giants at Arrowhead Stadium on Sept. 29. It will be the Chiefs third of three straight contests against an NFC East opponent.

Philadelphia's next stop will be a road trip to Denver on Sept. 29 to take on the Broncos.

Chiefs vs Eagles Series History

The Eagles are 4-2 all-time against the Chiefs, with a 1-1 record in games played in Philadelphia. Kansas City has lost the last three matchups between the two teams. The Chiefs last win vs. Philadelphia was a 24-21 victory in Philadelphia on Sept. 27, 1998.

The Chiefs are 9-8 all-time in games played on Thursday. Kansas City met Philadelphia on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001. The Eagles defeated the Chiefs 23-10.

After the first meeting in 1972, the Chiefs and Eagles did not play again until 1992, with the Chiefs taking the fi rst of their two-consecutive wins versus the Eagles.

Kansas City fell to Philadelphia in the most recent meeting between the two teams, a 14-34 loss in Week 3 of 2009.
