The NFL record for the most passing yards by a player in the first two weeks of a season was 827 yards by KURT WARNER in 2000. Carolina rookie quarterback CAM NEWTON threw for 432 yards today (422 yards in Week 1) and surpassed Warner with a two-game total of 854 passing yards. However, Newton held the top spot for only a few hours as New England's TOM BRADY passed for 423 yards (517 yards in Week 1) and set the record with 940 passing yards in the first two weeks of the season.

New England quarterback TOM BRADY passed for 423 yards in the Patriots' 35-21 win over San Diego. Brady, who passed for 517 yards last week, is one of 11 quarterbacks to pass for 500 yards in a game. Of those 11, Brady's 423 passing yards today are the most all-time by a player following a 500-yard performance. He is the only player in NFL history to follow a 500-yard passing performance with a 400-yard game.

Carolina quarterback CAM NEWTON passed for an NFL single-game rookie record 432 yards against Green Bay. Newton, who passed for 422 yards last week in his NFL debut, is the first player in league history with back-to-back 400-yard passing games to begin a career and his 854 passing yards are the most ever by a player in his first two NFL games.

Pittsburgh quarterback BEN ROETHLISBERGER passed for 298 yards and a touchdown in the Steelers' 24-0 victory over Seattle. Roethlisberger recorded the 70th win of his career, accomplishing the feat in his 100th start, the fourth-fewest starts to reach 70 wins among quarterbacks who began their careers in the Super Bowl era. The leaders in the category are Pro Football Hall of Famer ROGER STAUBACH (94),TOM BRADY (94) and KEN STABLER (98).

Green Bay wide receiver DONALD DRIVER had a 10-yard reception in the Packers' 30-23 win at Carolina. Driver has 9,666 career receiving yards and passed Pro Football Hall of Famer JAMES LOFTON (9,656) for the most receiving yards in franchise history.

Driver is also the Packers' all-time leader in receptions with 703.

Minnesota running back ADRIAN PETERSON rushed for 120 yards and two touchdowns against Tampa Bay. Peterson now has 54 career rushing touchdowns and surpassed CHUCK FOREMAN (52) and BILL BROWN (52) for the most in franchise history.

In his career, Peterson is averaging 110.6 rushing yards per game in September(1,770 yards, 16 games) and trails only Pro Football Hall of Famer JIM BROWN (110.8) in the category (minimum 10 September games).

Detroit kicker JASON HANSON scored 12 points (two field goals, six PATs) in the Lions' 48-3 victory over Kansas City. Hanson set an NFL record by playing in his 297th career game for the Lions, marking the most games played by one player for a single team. Hanson surpassed Pro Football Hall of Famer BRUCE MATTHEWS, who played 296 games for the Houston Oilers/Tennessee Titans.

Hanson also became the seventh player in NFL history to score 1,900 career points(1,911).
