Ben Roethlisberger, who played through an injured ankle in the Pittsburgh Steelers' win Thursday over Cleveland, could sit out Week 15 if he continues to be hampered by a high ankle sprain.

An MRI Friday revealed the injury, but the 29-year-old Steelers quarterback sustained only a moderate high-ankle sprain.

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the injury was described as not being the most severe, Grade 3 variety.

Roethlisberger was reportedly in a walking boot around the South Side complex, as he continues to nurse the sprain.

Roethlisberger's agent, Ryan Tollner, said that Steelers veteran signal-caller has his left foot in a walking boot and "will need rest," the Post-Gazette reported.

Roethlisberger hobbled as he was helped off the field and into the locker room after a scary sack by Scott Paxson with under six minutes to play in the second quarter of Pittsburgh's 14-3 win over the Browns in Week 14.

He returned in the second half after X-rays revealed no break in the affected ankle, but the two-time Super Bowl champ was in obvious pain and a bit unsteady in a couple of plays.

Veteran back-up Charlie Batch was tabbed to replace Roethlisberger for the remainder of the first half.

Batch could get the call once again if Roethlisberger is not fit to play in Week 15, a Monday Night bout against San Francisco.
