Talks of the Eagles flickering hope to salvage their season or even about winning out in order to sneak into the playoffs vanished Thursday night following Philadelphia's embarrassing 31-14 loss to Seattle Seahawks at Centurylink Field.

It marked the eighth loss suffered for the first time in four years by the Eagles (4-8).

From a team which has suddenly gone from losing fourth-quarter leads to getting blown out in back-to-back home games, the defending NFC East champion Eagles were hoping to extend their streak of postseason appearances to four straight years.

But the blowout loss to the Tavaris Jackson-led Seahawks Thursday night, the Eagles' worst performance this season, may have been the final blow that sent Philadelphia rock bottom.

Against the Seahawks, who entered the game 4-7, just like Philadelphia, the slightly-favored Eagles were a disaster - - the defense looked lost, the offense was a turnover machine, poor coaching was again seen and the morale and hearts of the players can hardly be seen.

Vince Young, who got the starting nod for the third consecutive week, once again struggled, throwing four interceptions, but it was just a factor in the Eagles collapse.

It was a Philadelphia defense that rolled over early that played a key role in the loss.

The Eagles defense yielded 148 rushing yards to Marshawn Lynch and 190 yards through the air from Seattle quarterback Jackson.

Philadelphia defenders seemed to bounce off Lynch, who ran for 148 yards and a pair of TDs on 22 carries.

Lynch's stellar outing was highlighted in his first-period, escape-act touchdown- - a 15-yard TD run.

The Seattle running back bulldozed into Philadelphia and escaped from a massive pileup for a 15-yard TD run, the first of four TDs scored by the Seahawks (5-7) en route to their third win in four games.

The Seahawks intercepted Young four times, including the Eagles signal-caller's first throw that led to Lynch's initial touchdown. Seattle converted three of its picks off Young into touchdowns.

Jackson completed 13-of-16 for 190 yards and TD for the victors.

Young passed 208 yards and a TD and four INT on a 17-of-29 efficiency.

Philadelphia was attempting to replicate the comeback by the 2006 Eagles team that was led by then-backup quarterback Jeff Garcia, who was standing in for an injured Donovan McNabb at that time.
