The Saints unveiled Mark Ingram Jr. Friday night, one of the league's most talked about rookies, and the former Heisman Trophy winner out of Alabama delivered by rushing for a TD in New Orleans' 24-3 rout of the San Francisco 49ers.

The 21-year-old running back, a first-round pick by the Saints in April, highlighted his NFL debut with a 14-yard TD run late in first half that gave a 17-0 lead to New Orleans.

Ingram carried the ball six times for 23 yards in the victory.

Chris Taylor added a four-yard TD run in the fourth quarter for the final margin after a scoreless third quarter.

After Ingram ran in from 14 yards out late in the first half, San Francisco got on board with 49ers rookie quarterback Colin Kaepernick scrambling to set David Akers.

Akers booted a 59-yard field goal for San Francisco that trimmed the deficit to 17-3 at the break.

Drew Brees played three series for the Saints. He was limited to four throws, completing only one for six yards.

Chase Daniel saw the bulk of snaps, finishing 129 yards on 13-of-21 efficiency for the victors.
