Every offense -- especially its quarterback -- desires a marquee No. 1 wide receiver who is capable of producing in any scenario, even when drawing double coverage from the opposition. The heightened attention serves as a repeated challenge throughout each contest, but the league's elite receivers still manage to see a high number of passes.

One player in this class is Houston Texans wide receiver ANDRE JOHNSON, who in 2009 was targeted an NFL-high 171 times by quarterback MATT SCHAUB, according to official NFL game books.

Johnson led the NFL with 1,569 receiving yards and Schaub topped the league with 4,770 passing yards. While their individual skill sets are necessary for the tandem's success, Johnson says that quarterback-wide receiver chemistry is equally important.

"Since Matt got here, we've been on the same page," says Johnson. "When we're out on the field, we talk a lot. He tells me why he didn't throw me the ball. We see the same things. When the play's there to be made, he comes to me, and I just do my best to make it."

Over the past five seasons, Arizona Cardinals wide receiver LARRY FITZGERALD leads the league with 749 targets, 465 receptions and 6,287 receiving yards.
