Chris Johnson, Tennessee Titans
Tennessee Titans running back CHRIS JOHNSON (right) was named the 2009 NFL Offensive Player of the Year by The Associated Press after a record-breaking season.
Last year, Johnson became the sixth player in NFL history to rush for 2,000 yards (2,006) in a season.
The elusive back also displayed his versatility by amassing an NFL-record 2,509 scrimmage yards, surpassing the previous mark held by MARSHALL FAULK (2,429 in 1999).
"You can't give this guy any space at all," says New England Patriots head coach BILL BELICHICK. "He's a terrific back. He's got speed. He's got quickness. He makes people miss. He breaks a lot of tackles. He's as good a back as I've seen in a long time."
A dynamic runner with breakaway speed, Johnson has rushed for at least 100 yards in 11 consecutive games and can extend the mark in 2010. He needs four such performances in a row for the most consecutive 100-yard rushing games in NFL history.
San Francisco 49ers All-Star linebacker PATRICK WILLIS, who is known for his instincts, toughness and athletic ability to make plays sideline-to-sideline, has a great appreciation for Johnson's attributes.
"I just know that he can run," says Willis. "If you give him what he is looking for, which is the edge, he can turn and run like there is no tomorrow."
