2009 NFL Travel Miles - 2009 Preseason and Regular Season
The total distance traveled by all teams will be 578,912 miles. This is 18,128 fewer miles than last year, when teams traveled a total of 597,040 miles.
Five teams will "travel around the world" and more. A trip around the globe is 25,000 miles.
The SEATTLE SEAHAWKS will travel the most this season, accumulating a total of 29,054 miles. The Seahawks will travel 256 more miles than the INDIANAPOLIS COLTS, PITTSBURGH STEELERS and CLEVELAND BROWNS will travel combined.
In the past two years, the Seahawks have traveled a total of 63,820 miles, the most of any team.
The Browns will log the fewest traveling miles this season, finishing with 7,554 miles. This is 1,138 more than last year, when they also finished with the lowest total in the NFL. Cleveland will travel more than 1,000 total miles for only two games – at Denver and at Kansas City.
The teams of the NFC West will travel the farthest distance for the third consecutive season. This year, they will fly 102,610 miles, compared to last year's total of 114,616. The teams of the AFC North will travel the least this year, accumulating a total of 49,904 miles.
