The Jacksonville Jaguars have tabbed Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Gus Bradley as head coach, replacing Mike Mularkey, who was fired after a season.

Earlier, the Jaguars, with new owner Shad Khan at the helm, picked Dave Caldwell as new general manager.

"Shad Khan and Dave Caldwell expect to win and that's what I wanted to hear. That's why I am coming to Jacksonville - to win a Super Bowl. I can't wait to meet everyone in Jacksonville on Friday and get this going," Bradley in a statement.

Bradley was also considered by the Philadelphia Eagles and the San Diego Chargers for their head coaching vacancy before landing the Jacksonville job.

He was the longest-tenured member of the Seahawks coaching staff after he was hired by Jim Mora in 2009. Bradley was one of two assistants retained by Pete Carroll when he took over.

The Seahawks are expected to replace Bradley with University of Florida defensive coordinator Dan Quinn.

Seattle cornerback Richard Sherman expressed sadness upon learning of Bradley's departure to the Jaguars.

"It'd be a tough blow to lose Gus," Sherman said. "Obviously we have other coaches that we have to step up and to run the same thing we've been running, but he's a great coach. He's enthusiastic. He's energetic. He's a players' coach."

"There's not enough verbs and nouns in the dictionary to describe all the great things about Gus Bradley, but he's a players' coach," he added.
