Wesley Saunders fired 18 points while Laurent Rivers hit five triples to carry 14th seed Harvard to a 68-62 upset victory over No. 3 New Mexico Thursday in the second round of the NCAA Tournament at EnergySolutions Arena.

The win, the first for the Crimson in four NCAA Tournament contests, vaulted them to the 20-win plateau for the fourth consecutive year. It was also their first win over a top 10 opponent.

The Crimson will face sixth seed Arizona Saturday.

"We just said we had to stick together and believe and just stick to the things we have done all year and just try to finish out the game," Saunders said.

Rivard finished with 17 points, Christian Webster had 11 points to top the 1,000-point plateau and Kenyatta Smith also finished in double figures with 10 points and a team-high seven rebounds for the Crimson.

Alex Kirk scored 22 points and grabbed 12 boards while Cameron Bairstow had 15 points for the Lobos, who hit just 3-for-14 from beyond the arc for 21.4 percent, way below their season three-point shooting average of 35.4 percent.

The Crimson grabbed a 31-27 lead at the half, thanks to a 5-for-10 performance from 3-point range.

Harvard made all five of its triples before New Mexico hit its first three-pointer at the 2:12 mark of the first half.

Tony Snell's layup at the 18:47 mark of the second half gave New Mexico its first lead at 33-31 but it lasted just 12 seconds as Harvard launched an 8-0 run for a 39-33 advantage.

The Lobos grabbed the lead anew, 49-47, at the 7:53 mark of the second when Jamal Fenton hit New Mexico's first triple in the second half.

However, the Crimson stormed ahead with a 7-0 blast sparked by Rivard's triple for a 59-53 lead with 4:42 left in the game.

Wesley Saunders scored 18 points and Laurent Rivard had 17 to help 14th-seeded Harvard pull off Thursday's biggest upset in the NCAA tournament, a 68-62 win over No. 3 New Mexico in the West regional
