NBA officials are finalizing rules that will put an end to act of exaggerating contact to induce a foul call or better known as flopping.

According to league spokesman Tim Frank, the policy will involve a postgame review rather than an in-game ruling by referees with fine as penalty.

Frank, however, said it is not yet clear whether the league will increase fines for repeat offenders or suspend habitual floppers as the new rules are still being ironed out.

It is expected to be finalized in the next few weeks and will be applied for the coming season.

Fans, coaches and even some players are all against flopping, which is intended to deceive referees into calling a foul. Even Commissioner David Stern has made it a personal crusade to eradicate the practice and called on league officials to come up with rules against it.

"I think there are ways we can do that, and we'll have to wait and see exactly what we come up with," Stern said in June.

The league is also looking to make flopping an in-game infraction but it would be hard for referees to determine without the benefit of replay.
