157,531 Iraqis died from violence 2003-2011, according to Iraq Body Count. In 2006 The Lancet published a survey showing Iraq suffered 655,000 excess deaths related to the war and its aftermath, including from lawlessness and poor healthcare.

US military casualties

Killed in action: 4,488

Wounded in action: 32,220

UK casualties

Wounded in action: 426

Cost of US war effort

Refugees

2.7 million Iraqis were recorded last year as having been forced from their homes -- 1.4 million refugees outside the country, and 1.3 million 'internally displaced' living inside the country. The civil war in Syria has forced many Iraqi refugees to return home from there, while 73,000 Syrians have sought refuge in Iraq.

Christian Exodus

In 1990, there were between 1.2 million and 1.4 million Christians in the country, according to the Civitas think-tank.

By the time of the second Gulf War in 2003, this figure had fallen by about half a million. Today, fewer than 200,000 remain.

In March 2011 Archbishop Bashar Warda of Erbil gave a 'highly optimistic' estimate of the Christian population at 'less than 500,000'.

Oil output

3 million barrels a day in 2012 compared with a pre-invasion average of 2.8 million barrels a day.

Growth

8.5 per cent in 2012, with an estimated average of 9 per cent a year 2013-17

Corruption

Ranked 169 out of 174 states, with 174 being the most corrupt.
