Dusselfdorf, Germany

A Dusseldorf court has granted Apple's motion to prohibit sales and marketing of Samsung Electronics' Galaxy Tab in Germany. As a result of the court ruling, the Korean electronics giant pulled its newly launched Galaxy Tab 7.7 from its display at the IFA electronics show in Berlin.

The court action is the latest in a series of legal battles between Apple and Samsung, which ironically are also business partners. Apple claimed Samsung's Galaxy gadgets copied its iPhone and iPad, particularly the design, look and feel.

In a counter lawsuit, Samsung charged Apple with breaching its wireless patents. As a result of the legal tussle, the two electronic giants have been locked in court battles in the U.S., Europe, South Korea and Australia since April.

In August, the Dusseldorf Regional Court also approved Apple's petition to temporarily ban the sale of Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1 model in 26 of 27 European Union nations.

Samsung was forced to postpone twice the Tab 10.1 model's launch in Australia due to another court injunction.

A Samsung spokesman said it respected the German court's decision, but said the firm will seek all available legal options in defense of its intellectual property rights.
